There’s been a lot of interest in homoerotic artist Tom Of Finland recently, which seems to be repositioning him from being seen as a purveyor of well drawn, big-bulged smut, to being respected as a legitimate artist whose unapologetically homoerotic imagery fought against mainstream hatred of everything LGBT and helped illuminate queer culture at a time when even gay people didn’t know what that meant.
As a result of this shift, two movie about the man are in the works, and an exhibition on Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland at MOCA (Museum Of Contemporary Art) Pacific Design Center in LA. Now that MOCA exhibit has resulted in the emergence of the short documentary below, which looks at Tom and the Tom Of Finland Foundation.
