The odds have been stacked against Joseph Kibler since birth. He was born disabled and HIV positive, and spent most of his childhood in a wheelchair. However he became determined to take part in the Los Angeles AIDS walk and to actually walk it, something most medical people thought would be impossible.
However, he has gone from wheelchair to crutches, and at the age of 18 he took his first steps. Even with that, completing the 6.2 miles of the walk is a tough ask.
The documentary Walk On looks at Kibler’s story. The film screens as part of the 2013 All Sports Film Festival in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 10 at The El Portal Theater.
