Ruben Fleischer had success with Zombieland and 30 Minutes Or Less, but the much hyped Gangster Squad was a bit of a damp squib. He’s found a new film though, as he is in negotiations to direct the family adventure Overnight for Walt Disney Pictures, according to Variety.
Oren Uziel (The Kitchen Sink) wrote the script, which is described being like Home Alone but set in a large toy store similar to FAO Schwartz. It’s about a divorced father and his son who win a sleepover in the shop. However their treat takes on unexpected turn when they have to diffuse a hostage situation when thieves try to stage a robbery.
The movie was going to be made by Sony/Columbia Pictures, however Disney picked it up out of turnaround last year. It’s not known when it will shoot.
