Landing Meryl Streep for your movie is a bit of a badge of honour for a filmmaker, so Diablo Cody and Jonathan Demme must be feeling pretty good, as Variety reports that she’s signed up to star in their indie movie, Ricky and the Flash.
It could be an interesting one for the actress as she will play ‘an old fading rockstar… who after years of being estranged from her children, finally tries to reconnect as one of them goes through an ugly divorce.’
Juno and Young Adult’s writer Diablo Cody has come up with the script, with Silence Of The Lambs and Philadelphia’s Jonathan Demme. So far Streep is the first person to be cast, and will make a contrast to her other upcoming roles, including the young adult sci-fi/fantasy The Giver, playing a witch in Into The Woods and Emmeline Pankhurst in Suffragette.
It’s not clear when Ricky and the Flash will shoot.
