Director Jean-Marc Vallée had a big success with Dallas Buyers Club. Now he’s plotting his follow-up, and Variety reports that he’s lining up Jake Gyllenhaal to star in the film, which is called Demolition.
Assuming he signs on the dotted line, Jake will play a young investment banker whose life is in shambles after the tragic death of his wife. He starts to tear his life apart trying to figure out where he went wrong, but is rescued by a woman he meets during a chance encounter.
There’s not guarantee Gyllenhaal will sign on, as he’s due to go into production on the boxing drama Southpaw next month and is currently weighing his options for what to star in after that.
Vallée is set to from a screenplay by Bryan Sipe.
