Kylie Minogue may have started out as an actress, but she doesn’t book that many gigs in front of the camera nowadays. However now THR reports that she’s joining Dwayne Johnson in San Andreas.
Johnson will play a man who travels across California to rescue his estranged daughter after a massive earthquake strikes. It’s not known exactly who the Aussie pop star will play, but she’ll star alongside Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Colton Haynes and Art Parkinson.
The project has been in development at New Line Cinema since 2011, when Allan Loeb (The Switch) signed on to rewrite the original script by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore (Special). Lost’s Carlton Cuse signed on to rewrite the script in 2012, although the most recent draft was written by Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring).
Brad Peyton is directing, with the shoot currently happening in Australia. It’s due out summer 2015.
