Legendary Pictures surprised the Comic Con crowds over the weekend with the news that they were making Skull Island, a King Kong prequel set on the island the big beast comes from. They also set a release date – November 4th, 2016.
However what they’re lacking is everything else, such as a cast and director (although it does have a script). However it seems that with the deadline not too far away in Hollywood terms, they’re already closing in on a helmer, with Deadline reporting that they’ve offered the job to British comedian turned filmmaker, Joe Cornish.
Ever since Attack The Block there’s been a lot of interest in him, and he’s been rumoured for projects such as A Good Day To Die Hard and Star Trek 3, however he’s yet to make his first big Hollywood movie (although he has co-written Tintin and the upcoming Ant-Man). There’s no news on whether Cornish is likely to take the gig though.
