Two Oscar nominations failed to properly get Hollywood to pay attention to Viola Davis, but it appears that her turning helping people get away with murder on TV has finally made them take notice. Latino Review reports that after being rumoured for a while she’s been offered the role of Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad.
After the announcement that the likes of Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy, and Cara Delevingne would be in the squad, having no one playing Waller was a bit of a hole, as she’s the character who runs the show.
Waller is a former congressional aide and government agent who become a prison warder and the person in charge of the Suicide Squad, a group of captured supervillains who’ve agreed to go on potentially suicidal mission in the hope of redemption.
There is a problem though, Davis is hard at work on How To Get Away With Murder, and Suicide Squad is due to start shooting before Season 1 wraps. But assuming they can work things out, she’ll be joining the movie.
