Gareth Edwards is certainly building a great cast for Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, with Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn already onboard. Now it looks like they’ve got some company, as Variety reports that Diego Luna is signing on.
There are too many details on who he’ll play, but it appears he’ll be one of the leads, as part of a rogue band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy. (We’re presuming it’s those stolen plans that end up stowed away in R2D2 at the beginning of A New Hope)
Jones and Ahmed will join him in the attempt to steal those plan, while Mendelsohn will be the villain.
The Star Wars Anthology movies will be standalone films that will expand the screen franchise beyond the Skywalker saga (which include JJ Abrams’ upcoming The Force Awakens), and should arrive in cinemas Decembr 2016.
