If you’re a fan of the Andrew Christian Underwear videos you’ll know that they’re mostly a few minutes of brightly coloured homoeroticism, full of cute guys wearing very little, thrust their junk to the front and in the last couple of years, obsessively twerking.
However now it’s Pride month and while AC may produce something a bit more sparkly and overtly sexy in the next few weeks, they’re starting out with something quieter and perhaps a lot more worthwhile. It’s a simple idea, where instead of twerking, some of the guys sit down (in their underwear, of course) to talk about their experiences of being bullied and facing the difficulties of coming out.
It’s a good reminder that while guys like Topher Maggio, Ryan Rose, Diego Sans, Jacob Ford and Matt O’Reilly seem to live in a constantly happy, shiny, sexy world that makes most of us look pretty pathetic, underneath that they are real people like the rest of us, who’ve faced issues many of us have shared and come out the other side.
As a noted on the Andrew Christian site: ‘We decided to share our own stories of how we came to have so much Pride. The road may not always be easy but it is always worth while to come out, be free, and find the love in the world. Hopefully by sharing our stories we are able to further inspire others and continue to help, as the song says, change the world.’
