Many actors would love to be playing Hamlet or starring in plays by the most lauded writers of our age, but are stuck in part-time jobs that have nothing to do with acting, or working for scale on corporate videos. But what if you weren’t prepared to put up with that, and where would the quest to fulfil your dreams take you? The short film Gatecrasher takes a look at that idea, and certainly leads to a tricky situation for the lead character.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘Shot in Bradford 2012, the film stars Ryan Prescott (Emmerdale, Marchlands) and tells the story of a young, gay actor vying for the attention of an older writer to land him the role that will make his career. Yet what begins as determination soon turns to obsession, with Mark slowly ‘gatecrashing’ the life of his idol…
‘Since its civic premiere, the film has been accepted into film festival around the world, winning the Jury Award at the Frech-Frivoles Film Festival in Berlin.’ You can watch Gatecrasher below.
