It’s not often a LGBT-themed short film gets a sequel, but filmmaker/actor Nick Neon is busy putting together a follow-up to his successful short, Ultra Bleu, which will follow more of the adventures of Jimmy Park. To help with post-production and film festival costs on that sequel – called Zero One – Nick has launched a Kickstarter in the hope of raising $10,000.
It’s a good opportunity then to catch up with where it all started. Ultra Bleu, which was inspired by Neon’s own experiences of being left by his French boyfriend while living in South Korea, follows ’20something + lost, Jimmy Park, for the first 24-hours after a violent break up with his now ex-boyfriend and how a chance meeting with a stranger reveals deeper issues he must confront while living in Seoul.’
The upcoming sequel meanwhile is set, ‘one month after the events of Ultra Bleu. Jimmy Park is visiting home for the first time in four years, and is deeply questioning the choices he has made with his life. Both his dysfunctional family and his own generation’s inability to foster intimate relationships only serve to further his sense of disconnect.’
You can watch Ultra Bleu below, and if you like what you see, head over to Kickstarter to help out.
