Writer-director Rob Williams has been selected for this year’s ‘Filmmaker in Focus’ honour from the KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, being held in Mumbai, India, from May 23rd-27th.
Williams will attend the festival and present three of his most popular films – Long-Term Relationship, Make the Yuletide Gay and Role/Play – in addition to participating in Q&A sessions for those films and a special panel discussion titled ‘The Pink Screen’. The festival will also will screen Regrets, an award-winning short film for which Williams wrote the script.
Williams established Guest House Films, a Los Angeles-based film production and distribution house, with his partner Rodney Johnson in 2005. Since then, he has written, directed and produced five films and recently ventured into distribution with the US release of Black Briefs, the first DVD in a new short-film compilation series.
“I am tremendously honored to be recognised by the KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival for my body of work, and I really look forward to visiting India for the first time and experiencing everything that the country has to offer,” said Williams.
This year is shaping up to be extremely busy for Williams. In May, Guest House Films will start production on The Men Next Door, the sixth film written and directed by Williams; in June, Guest House Films will release its second short-film compilation, Blue Briefs; and the company will be screening the heartwarming Australian documentary, The Doctor’s Wife, at film festivals throughout the year.
