It’s not too surprising that Sony decided it would be a good idea to make a 3D CG Popeye movie, but how the character would look was another question. Now we get to take a look with a featurette that ends with a look at Genndy Tartakovsky’s Animation Test for the movie.
There are a few changes from the classic cartoons, not least that Popeye has been scrubbed up with his tattoos removed and his ever-present pipe has been taken away too.
We still have to wait a while for the final movie though, as it’s not due out until 2016.
Genndy Tartakovsky made his name working on programmes like Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars, and made his feature debut with Hotel Transylvania.
