Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters Trailer – Logan Lerman returns for more Greek mythlogy

April 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It took a while for Fox to decide to make a sequel to Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, as it didn’t exactly set the box office on fire. However DVD sales convinced them it was worth it, and so now Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is set to arrive in cinemas in August.

Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson are back, and this time Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, continues his epic journey to fulfill his destiny, as he teams with his demigod friends to retrieve the Golden Fleece, which has the power to save their home and training ground, Camp Half-Blood.

Check it out when it’s released August 16th. It actually look quite fun.

Logan Lerman Returns In First First Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters Pics

March 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

percy-jackson-2-pic1It’s taken a couple of years to get a sequel to Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief together, but Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters is now in the can and heading for release this August. The first pictures from the movie have been released, via USA Today, along with some comments from director Thor Freudenthal and star Logan Lerman, which you can see below.

Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth Chase), and Brandon T. Jackson (Grover), all return, along with new cast members Leven Rambin (Clarisse LaRue), Douglas Smith (Tyson the Cyclops), and Stanley Tucci (Dionysus). The story, adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel series, follows Percy and his friends on a quest to find a golden fleece, which is integral to saving a magical tree that protects his home, Camp Half-Blood.

Click on the pics below for larger versions and the director and star’s thoughts.

Director Thor Freudenthal spoke about how Percy and Annabeth’s relationship has blossomed: “They are the best of friends. There is deep affection, but they are not a couple. You don’t know until the end where the relationship is really headed.”
Leven Rambin’s Clarisse LaRue, pictured between Douglas Smith’s Tyson the Cyclops and Brandon T. Jackson’s Grover, becomes an ally to Percy in this sequel, according to the director: “This is the first movie we meet Clarisse. She goes from camp rival to unlikely ally to Percy.”
Thor Freudenthal reveals Percy, Annabeth, and Grover have to take covert measures to complete their mission: “They basically have to sneak out of their own camp.”

Logan Lerman revealed it’s easier to play Percy Jackson this time around: “It’s nice to go back to a world having a knowledge and a background in this kind of stunt work.”
Stanley Tucci’s Dionysus, the God of Wine, is not allowed to drink anymore as punishment, according to Thor Freudenthal: “Zeus punished Dionysus by not allowing him to drink and that makes him incredibly frustrated. Stanley Tucci does a great comedic take on it.”

Bereavement (DVD)

September 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Michael Biehn, Alexandra Daddario, Spencer List, Brett Rickaby
Director: Steven Mena
Running Time: 103 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: October 1st 2012

The people behind Bereavement certainly studied their horror films before they made the movie. Psychotic, nutty ritualistic killer? Check. Creepy kid? Check. Young women who don’t wear bras screaming and being slaughtered? Check. Liberal sprinklings of blood and guts? Check. Generic but slightly sinister titles? Check. But while it may have all right ingredients, it’s not a completely satisfying concoction.

Teenager Allison (Percy Jackson’s Alexandra Daddario) moves in with her uncle (Michael Biehn) and his family after her parents die. While she’s hoping her new rural high school will allow her to continue her interest in sports, they’re not that interested in female athletes. Because of this she takes to jogging along the area’s remote roads. [Read more…]

Anthony Stewart Head Joins Percy Jackson 2

March 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems Pierce Brosnan doesn’t like being a centaur, as he’s not coming back to play Chiron in Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters. THR reports that Brosnan is out and Buffy actor Anthony Stewart Head has signed on to take over the role in this upcoming sequel.

This is the second character from Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief who has been recast in the past week, as Nathan Fillion recently took over from Dylan Neal as Hermes. Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, and Jake Abel are returning for the sequel, which sees Percy heading under the sea looking for the Golden Fleece. Chiron is in charge of Camp Half-Blood, where demigods such as Percy receive their training.

Thor Freudenthal is directing Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, which is adapted from Rick Riordan’s novel series. Production is expected to start in a couple of months time.
