Simon Killer Trailer – Take a look at the audience dividing Sundance flick

February 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

One of the more controversial audience-dividers at this year’s Sundance was Simon Killer, and now we can get our first look at the movie with a trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The follow-up to Antonio Campos’ critically acclaimed AFTERSCHOOL, SIMON KILLER is an erotic and and psychological portrait of Simon (Brady Corbet, MELANCHOLIA, MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE), a well-educated, handsome and seemingly sympathetic college graduate with just a hint of something off putting enough to ignite a sense of concern.

‘Recently heartbroken, Simon travels to Paris to clear his head. After several days of wandering aimlessly, Simon finds himself drawn into a sex parlor and has a sexual encounter with an exotic prostitute, Victoria (Mati Diop, 35 SHOTS OF RUM). The chemistry builds between the two until they find themselves in a serious relationship, one that leads to blackmail, betrayal and the ultimate revelation of Simon’s true nature.’

The movie hits the US & UK in April. [Read more…]

Dane DeHaan, Brady Corbet Or Alden Ehrenreich May Be Harry Osborn In Amazing Spider-man 2

November 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The news came in a couple of days ago that Sony is planning to start shooting The Amazing Spider-man 2 early next year and so director Marc Webb needs to get new cast members lined up as quickly as he can. It’s long been rumoured that Harry Osborn would show up in the second movie, and now that’s been confirmed with THR reporting that actors such as Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Brady Corbet (Melancholia), and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) are trying out for the part later this week.

The role was apparently originally crafted for a bulkier, more athletic looking actor, but now it’s being revamped to have a more “dark and edgy” feel. In this take on the Spider-man legend Osborn will be a college kid who becomes friends with Peter Parker. Of course Osborn is the son of Norman Osborn (aka Green Goblin), but it’s not known if pops will show up in this movie.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are returning as Peter and Gwen Stacy, with Oscar nominee Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) confirmed to play Mary Jane Watson. Jamie Foxx has also been rumoured to play the villain Electro.

Mysterious Skin (2004)

May 31, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brady Corbet, Elizabeth Shue, Michelle Trachtenberg
Director: Gregg Araki
Running Time: 100 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: October 24th, 2005

Gregg Araki made a name for himself with gay-themed, rather anarchic generation-X flicks like The Doom Generation and Nowhere, but 2005’s Mysterious Skin sees him in a more controlled mood. It’s definitely a good thing and it’s probably no coincidence this film is his only novel adaptation, something that helps keep his more random ideas in check.

As a boy, Neil was abused by his little league coach, leaving him rather confused about boundaries and what’s suitable behaviour. Now in his late teens (and grown into the form of Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Neil is defiantly gay and working as a hustler in the small Kansas town he grew up in. However he has dreams of making it in the big city, which will hopefully also allow him to forget what happened to him as a child. [Read more…]
