Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Character Posters Debut

May 3, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is one of the big unknowns of the summer. Director Luc Besson must believe in it, as it’s know the most expensive French movie ever made, with an estimated budget of over $200 million.

The trailers have looked impressive, but it’s going to need to make an awful lot of money to make a profit, and considering it’s based on a property that’s not desperately well-known outside France, it’s tough to know how audiences will respond. Now a new set of character posters have arrived, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the 28th century, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. New Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Trailer – Dane DeHaan & Cara Delevingne star in Luc Besson’s sci-fi

March 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Luc Besson took us into a rather unique sci-fi world with The Fifth Element, which got a very mixed reaction on its cinema release, but has since grown more than a cult reputation. Now the director is going back to hard sci-fi with Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which has just released a new trailer. It’s certainly got an impressive visual style.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Rooted in the classic graphic novel series, Valerian and Laureline- visionary writer/director Luc Besson advances this iconic source material into a contemporary, unique and epic science fiction saga.

‘Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Valerian has more in mind than a professional relationship with his partner- blatantly chasing after her with propositions of romance. But his extensive history with women, and her traditional values, drive Laureline to continuously rebuff him.

‘Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha’s seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time- uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger.’

The film is due out this summer. [Read more…]

Cara Delevingne Says ‘If People Want To Say I’m Gay, That’s Great’

August 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cara-delevigne-st-vincentFor a while it’s been known that actress/model Cara Delevingne has been dating musician St. Vincent. However she hasn’t said a vast amount it – although she certainly hasn’t been trying to hide it either.

Noe she’s been opening about her relationship and sexuality to the UK edition of Vogue. The 23-year-old says of her female partner, “I’m completely in love. Before, I didn’t know what love was – real love. I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or for the world or your partner.”

As for how she defines her sexuality, she’s joining a growing list of celebs who don’t really want to call themselves anything. She admits though to having some issues with the word ‘gay’, due to how it was used when she was young. She says, “As a child, I used gay as a bad word, as in, ’that’s so gay.’ All my friends did. I’m obviously in love, so if people want to say I’m gay, that’s great. But we’re all liquid – we change, we grow.”

First Looks At Kong: Skull Island and Valerian & The City Of A Thousand Planets

April 11, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

valerian-slideThe MTV Movie Awards offered the chance to get our first peak at a couple of highly anticipated new movie, most notably Kong: Skull Island and Luce Besson’s Valerian & The City Of A Thousand Planets.

Oscar-winner Brie Larson takes us to the set of Kong: Skull Island, which focuses on the action and excitement of the film. Tom Hiddleston and Corey Hawkins are also on hand talk up the movie, letting us know that it’s set during the Vietnam era and see a group of adventurers and military getting far more than they bargained for when they arrive on the uncharted Skull Island. It confirms that King Kong will be a bit part of the story, but also that it completely reboots things, as the giant gorilla was never taken to New York and isn’t the last of his kind.

Valerian & The City Of A Thousand Planets meanwhile is based on a classic novel, which as is pointed out in the footage below, helped inspire the likes of Star Wars and Avatar. Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne star in Luc Besson’s film version, which offers up a behind-the-scenes look in the footage below. In the original graphic novel, Valérian and Laureline are 28th Century agents working for the Galaxity organization, whose adventures take them across time and space. However after Galaxity and their home planet disappear, they are left to forge a future on their own. [Read more…]

Paper Towns Trailer – Nat Wolff gets into a mystery in the John Green adaptation

June 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paper-Towns-posterAlthough it sounds like a rather different type of movie, Paper Towns will be hoping to follow the success of The Fault in Our Stars, as they’re both adapted from books by John Green. Indeed there’s a sense Hollywood is hoping Green can be a Nicholas Sparks for young adults.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Adapted from the bestselling novel by author John Green (“The Fault in Our Stars”), PAPER TOWNS is a coming-of-age story centring on Quentin and his enigmatic neighbour Margo, who loved mysteries so much she became one. After taking him on an all-night adventure through their hometown, Margo suddenly disappears–leaving behind cryptic clues for Quentin to decipher. The search leads Quentin and his quick-witted friends on an exhilarating adventure that is equal parts hilarious and moving. Ultimately, to track down Margo, Quentin must find a deeper understanding of true friendship–and true love.’

Take a look at the trailer below. The film’s in UK cinemas on 17th August. [Read more…]
