In 2014 director Steven Vasquez brought us the gay short film anthology film Eroddity(s) (as well as the Eroddity(s)-esque Angels With Tethered Wings). It was a big enough success that now we have Eroddity(s) 2, which present three more creepy tales. In case you’re wondering the title is a contraction of ‘erotic oddities’, which is quite apt as the film is what would result if you smashed a horror film, The Twilight Zone and gay porn together in a super-collider.

If your ears pricked up on reading the words ‘gay porn’, you’ll be pleased to hear that as with the first movie, hardly any of the actors get through the movie without stripping naked at least once, and on a few occasions you can tell they were quite enjoying what was going on. Angels With Tethered Wings (Review)

Last year Steven Vasquez’s erotic horror anthology, Eroddity(s), hit DVD, offering a collection that had a lot of penises but was only sporadically successful in storytelling terms. Now he’s back with Angels With Tethered Wings, which is a step up from Eroddity(s) but still suffers from a few of the issues of the earlier release.

Although it tells one complete story, the film is split into three parts. The first chapter shows us what happens before and after part two, introducing us to identical twins Grant and Garret Gleason (both played by Cory Tyndall). Garret is a mean and callous porn producer who’s just received a briefcase containing $200,000 dollars, which he must hand over to the mysterious Carmine. After an argument with his main star, Timothy (Brandon Rife), the twink storms out, with Garret thinking the young man has taken the money with him. [Read more…]

Back in the dim and distant past there was an entire subgenre of straight-to-video movies (yes, video, I told you this was a long time ago) that had a plot but were filled with softcore sex. The main reason they existed seemed to be so that people who would be too embarrassed to buy an actual porn film could get something sexy without feeling too embarrassed to take it to the shop counter.

I couldn’t help thinking of that sort of movie when watching Eroddity(s), which presents four (well, three and a half) short stories that are linked by their horror feel and the fact the young men in them are unable to keep their clothes on for more than 30 seconds at a time. They’re also linked by the fact that no one in the movie is going to be winning an Oscar anytime soon, but as many of the actors are drawn from the world of twink porn, expecting to find a Meryl Streep amongst them is asking a bit much.
