Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie Trailer – Edina & Patsy are back, darling

April 27, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

absolutely-fabulous-quadYep, it’s true, after years and years of promises, an Absolutely Fabulous is finally on its way, and to give us a proper taste of this return to the world of Edina & Patsy, the first trailer has arrived. It’ll be in UK cinemas on July 1st.

Synopsis: ‘Appropriate for their big screen debut, Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots. Blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forevermore!

‘In true Ab Fab style, the cast will be joined by a host of A-list stars from the acting, music and fashion worlds.

‘Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie reunites Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley as the iconic Edina and Patsy along with the rest of the original cast that includes Julia Sawalha as Saffy, Jane Horrocks as Bubble and June Whitfield as Mother. The award-winning team behind the camera includes Mandie Fletcher (“Blackadder,” “Absolutely Fabulous”) directing from a script by Jennifer Saunders, producers Jon Plowman (“Absolutely Fabulous,” “The Vicar of Dibley”) and Damian Jones (THE IRON LADY, BELLE, DAD’S ARMY) with Steve Milne, Christian Eisenbeiss, Christine Langan, Nichola Martin, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, and Maureen Vincent serving as executive producers.’

February 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

absolute-fabuous-movie-slideFor year Jennifer Saunders has been talking about making an Absolutely Fabulous movie, but many has assumed that despite continued talk, it would never actually happen. However, now she’s made good on her promise, and to prove it, the first teaser trailer for the movie has now arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Appropriate for their big screen debut, Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots.  Blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Minions (Blu-ray Review)

November 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Jennifer Saunders
Director: Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin
Running Time: 91 mins
Certificate: U
Release Date: November 16th 2015 (UK)

I severely doubt that when the creators of Despicable Me came up with the Minions as a bit of comic relief they ever thought they would become the phenomenon they have. Indeed, you could be forgiven if you’d forgotten those films were about Gru, due to the massive wave of Minions merchandise in the shops, and now a spin-off movie that has massively eclipsed its predecessors, becoming only the third animated film ever to gross more than a billion at cinemas worldwide.

The film takes us back to the origins of the little yellow creatures, who have been look for the evilest boss to follow around for millions of years, from prehistoric fish to the T-rex. However, the last few hundred years have been tough, with the Minions losing all their masters and retreating from the world and hiding away at the South Pole. [Read more…]

Blandings (DVD)

February 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Timothy Spall, Jennifer Saunders, Jack Farthing, Mark Williams
Director: Paul Seed
Running Time: 180
Certificate: 12
Release Date: February 18th 2013

While Britain loves to make period dramas, period comedies are a much rarer beast, but we’ve got one with Blandings, based on P.G. Wodehouse’s numerous book and short stories set at Blandings Castle. The series pulls together some great comic talent, such as Timothy Spall, Jennifer Saunders and Mark Williams for six 30-minute episodes of entertaining silliness.

Spall is Lord Clarence Emsworth, a rather bumbling fellow who’s more interested in his prize pig than being what’s expected of the landed gentry and master of a stately pile. His rather loose, haphazard style endlessly frustrates his sister, Lady Connie (Jennifer Saunders), who’s constantly trying to bring some order and gentility to the castle, and rarely succeeding. Absolutely Fabulous Going Big Screen

November 9, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

A few months ago it was revealed that Jennifer Saunders was hoping to put together an Absolutely Fabulous reunion, letting us catch up on Edina and Patsy 20 years after they first debuted back in 1992. However at the time, it was assumed that whatever Saunders came up with would appear on TV. Now though, it looks like it’ll be getting a cinematic outing, according to Deadline.

Jennifer Saunders apparently plans to start work on the script after she finished writing the Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever. It’s been suggested that the movie, tentatively titled Ab Fab: The Movie (which is stunningly uninventive), will begin with Edina and Patsy waking up, hung over, on a yacht in the middle of the ocean, with no cell phone signal to call for help.

It’s early days though, as while BBC Films boss Christine Langan commented, “I think she’s a genius. I can’t imagine anything more exciting than working with her,” no proper deal is currently in place with Jennifer Saunders for the movie yet. Let’s hope it all come together.
