Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke & Joseph-Gordon Levitt Get Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Images

March 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A trailer for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is coming very soon, but ahead of that we’ve got three images from the long-awaited sequel, featuring Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke and Joseph-Gordon Levitt.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Nine years after the box-office smash SIN CITY, the stories of the notorious city dwellers resume in the hugely anticipated sequel SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. sin-city-dame2
Boasting an all-star cast led by Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), Eva Green (Dark Shadows), Juno Temple (Killer Joe), Jessica Alba (Sin City, Fantastic Four), Bruce Willis (Looper) and Josh Brolin (Old Boy), this next installment promises to take audiences on a visceral ride into the twisted minds of Frank Miller’s unforgettable characters.

‘Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is the follow-up to Rodriguez and Miller’s 2005 ground-breaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY.

‘Lionsgate UK will release SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR in UK cinemas nationwide on 29 August 2014’

Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt Re-team 50/50 Director For Xmas Comedy

February 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

50-50-pic1It looks like there’s going to be a 50/50 reunion, as THR reports that Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt are re-teaming with director Jonathan Levine for a Christmassy comedy.

The film doesn’t have a title yet, but Levine (who also helmed Warm Bodies) came up with script himself. The movie follows ‘three childhood best friends who reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve.’ Rogen and Gordon-Levitt will be two of those friends, but the third one is yet to be cast.

Sony beat out Universal and Paramount to back the movie, which they’ve put on the fast-track for a summer 2014 release. It’s not known exactly when it will shoot.

Robert Zemeckis May Direct Man on Wire Adaptation With Joseph Gordon Levitt Starring

January 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in The Dark Knight RisesIt seems that Robert Zemeckis is hoping to To Reach For the Clouds, which is a 3D narrative remake of the hit documentary Man on Wire. The film already has someone in its sights for the lead role, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt being eyed to star, although he’s yet to be officially offered a deal.

Producer Tom Rothman has acquired the rights to the memoirs of Philippe Petit, who walked on a tightrope strung between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on August 7, 1974. Zemeckis is planning to direct from a script he is co-writing with Christopher Browne. The director has apparently always wanted to make a feature about Petit, but it was Rothman, who’s new company TriStar Productions is focussing on high concept 3D ideas, who got him involved in this film.

The actual tightrope walk won’t be featured until towards the end of the movie, with the bulk of the film looking at on how Philippe Petit and a group of friends meticulously planned what was later called the ‘artistic crime of the century.’ It took six years from conception to execution. Eventually in 1974 they snuck up to the top of the towers to string a 450-foot cable from one building to the other, using a custom-made 26-foot balancing pole. The heist elements of the story are (inevitably) being compared to Ocean’s Eleven.

The original Man on Wire documentary, directed by James Marsh, won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2009. The feature version hops to shoot this summer.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt May Star In & Direct Neil Gaiman’s Sandman

December 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Joseph-Gordon-Levitt-The-Dark-Knight-Rises
Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s love of comic book culture has already led to roles in the likes of GI Joe and Dark Knight Rises. Now that’s he’s got his directorial debut, Don Jon, under his belt, he’s looking to adapt a comic property many before him have tried to get to the screen – Neil Gaiman’s Sandman.

Rumours emerged last month that he was thinking about starring in an adaptation of the comics, but now Deadline reports that he is finalising a deal to star, produce and direct the movie. The movie will team him with Dark Knight Trilogy veteran David S. Goyer, who recently pitched a well-received take on the DC Comics property, which they’re now going to try to make into a workable script. The studio is currently seeking a writer to adapt the comic book.

Gordon-Levitt will play Morpheus, the personification of Dreams in a family known as The Endless, whose members represent other aspects of life such as Death, Delirium, Desire, Destruction, Despair and Destiny. The story follows Morpheus, who escapes after being held captive by a wizard for the past 70 years. He goes on a journey to get revenge for his imprisonment, while trying to rebuild his empire and adapt to the current society.

Ant-Man May Well Be Joseph Gordon-Levitt Or Paul Rudd

October 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paul-ruddIt seems that with Guardians Of The Galaxy recently wrapped and Thor: The Dark World in cinemas in a couple of weeks, Marvel is now concentrating on who will play the title role in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. Now Variety is saying the insiders claim that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd are currently the top two candidates and one is likely to land the part.

No offers have been made yet, and there’s still a chance another actor could swoop in and take the coveted role. That said, both Rudd and Gordon-Levitt are expected to meet with Marvel executives and director Edgar Wright again before a final decision is made, and current indications suggest it’s a toss-up between them.

Ant-Man follows Dr. Hank Pym, who invents a substance that allows him to be shrunk down to an ant’s size. Edgar Wright is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), based on the Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The film’s due out summer 2015.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Says If He Defines His Sexuality The Paparazzi Will Win

September 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joseph-gordon-levitt-out-magazineSome actors feel as if they’re in a  personal war with the paparazzi, and one of those is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who even made a documentary about the people who follow him around. Now he’s extending that war to publicly defining his sexuality, telling Out Magazine, “That would be really tacky — they would win if I had to clarify.”

There have been many rumours about him over the years, some due to his decision to appear in gay-themed movies such as Mysterious Skin and Latter Days, or blind items that supposedly say things such as that he was a relationship with Michael Pitt.

He’s far from the first actor who’s refused to define their sexuality for the masses, and with many of them it wasn’t because they were hiding the fact they were gay, so whether JGL has a preference for one gender or the other is still completely unknown.

The actor also talks about his feature-length directing debut, Don Jon, which is about a New Jersey porn addict who struggles to make his reality meet the self-imposed expectations of his porn obsession. He says, “I was interested in making a movie about how people treat each other like things, and all kinds of media can contribute to that. I’ve been working as an actor since I was a little kid, and I’ve always been fascinated, and a little horrified, by the way people relate to images they see on screen. Sometimes I feel I am seen as a thing more than a person, and I don’t think that’s unique to actors. I think everyone is subject to that kind of pigeonholing.”

We also have to say, he’s looking mighty fine on Out’s cover too. You can also see a few more pics of the actor from his Out shoot below. [Read more…]

New Don Jon Trailer – Fresh look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut

August 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of interest in Don Jon, largely because it’s the first film Joseph Gordon Levitt has directed. He also stars in the movie, alongside Scarlett Johnasson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza. Now we can get a fresh look with a brand new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to “pull” a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she’s determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old-fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.’

It’s due out later this year. [Read more…]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Rumoured For Doctor Strange

July 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

At the moment we’d take this with a pinch of salt, but it’s certainly likely to get the fanboys interested. A rumour has emerged that Marvel Studios is eyeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt as their top candidate to play Doctor Strange.

Latino Review first reported the rumour, but it should be remembered that at the moment Marvel hasn’t even officially announced a Doctor Strange movie is definitely going to be made, although they have set release dates for three movies in 2016 and 2017, one of which is believed to be Doctor Strange.

According to Latino Review, no official offer hasn’t been made to the actor, but it’s said Marvel executives are internally discussing the possibility of hiring the actor soon.

The 32-year-old Joseph Gordon-Levitt is just the right age for the part, since the Sorcerer Supreme in Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer’s script is crafted for someone in their early 30s. Doctor Strange is a former neurosurgeon, a practicing sorcerer, and serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.

Although Marvel is known for revealing new actors at Comic-Con, it’s not believed JGL is aware of the Doctor Strange discussion surrounding him, so he won’t be coming out on the stage this weekend in San Diego.
