Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Trailer – Caesar and his simian chums are building a nation

May 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Things have certainly moved on for Caesar and his chums since Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, but their relationship with the surviving humans certainly isn’t that great.

Now we can take by far our best look yet at Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes with a full trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.’

It certainly looks pretty cool. [Read more…]

Austenland Trailer – Keri Russell gets her Jane Austen on

July 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Austenland premiered at Sundance earlier this year to middling reviews, but now we get to have a feel for the movies ourselves with the first trailer.

The movie is a romantic comedy about 30-something, single Jane Hayes (Keri Russell), a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her obsession with Mr. Darcy-as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice-is ruining her love life – no real man can compare. When she decides to spend her life savings on a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined.

The film is the directorial debut of Napoleon Dynamite writer Jerusha Hess and should hit cinemas in September. [Read more…]

Keri Russell Joins Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

March 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Keri-RussellBefore he directed Cloverfield and Let Me In, Matt Reeves was best known for creating the TV series Felicity, starring Keri Russell. Now he’s reuniting with the actress, as Variety reports she’s has signed on to play the female lead in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

No details on her character have been released, but she’ll co-star alongside Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman and Andy Serkis, who’s returning to the motion capture role of super-intelligent ape Caesar. The movie opens 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, when the world is fast becoming overrun with apes, while a group of San Francisco scientists try to survive in this brave new world. Things aren’t perfect amongst the simians, as Caesar is starting to lose control of the animal kingdom.

Matt Reeves (Let Me In) is directing from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The movie should start shooting in the next few months, ahead of release next summer.

Dark Skies Trailer – Paranormal Activity’s Jason Blum goes extra-terrestrial

November 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jason Blum has single-handedly cornered the market in micro-budget, mainstream horror, thanks to his Blumhouse Production Company producing the likes of Paranormal Activity, Insidious and Sinister. One of the movies he’s got incoming is Dark Skies, which takes the family in peril template and gives things an extra-terrestrial spin.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From the producers of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Sinister comes Dark Skies: a supernatural thriller that follows a young family living in the suburbs. As husband and wife Daniel and Lacey Barret witness an escalating series of disturbing events involving their family, their safe and peaceful home quickly unravels. When it becomes clear that the Barret family is being targeted by an unimaginably terrifying and deadly force, Daniel and Lacey take matters in their own hands to solve the mystery of what is after their family.’

The film comes from Scott Stewart, who promised much but delivered far less with Legion and Priest. Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton and Dakota Goyo star. No UK release date has yet been set, but its reaches the US February 2013.
