Final US Poster For Lindsay Lohan’s The Canyons Arrives

July 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

canyons-poster-final
For a movie that cost virtually nothing to make and which has had a decidedly mixed reaction from those who’ve seen it, there’s certainly been a lot written about The Canyons. Whether its director Paul Schrader and writer Brett Easton Ellis’ determination to make it outside the usual studio system, the casting of Lindsay Lohan and reports of her difficult behaviour on set, or indeed the fact it sees hardcore porn star James Deen in his first ‘straight’ leading role, it’s certainly ignited interest.

Now US audiences will finally get to see the movie when it’s released on August 2nd, and to entice people the final poster for the film has been released, which isn’t amazing but is suitably noir.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Christian is a young LA trust-fund dude who’s financing a horror film simply to keep his dad off his back about doing something with his life. He has been dating Tara for about a year — she was an aspiring actress/model who settled down with him when the reality of the business became apparent to her. She’s now just Christian’s bored plaything. Christian’s assistant Gina is casting the film with assistance from Tara. Gina is pushing Ryan, her boyfriend and struggling actor, for the lead. Unbeknownst to either Christian or Gina, Ryan and Tara were a couple three years ago. When Ryan came back into Tara’s life during the auditions for the movie, they reignited their affair. But Christian, a dangerous control-freak, finds out about the affair and starts playing cruel mind games with both Tara and Ryan, which escalate into an act of bloody violence.’

The Canyons Trailer – Lindsay Lohan & James Deen think cinema is dead

July 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of talk about The Canyons, the ultra-low budget movie from writer Bret Easton Ellis and director Paul Schrader. However most of those who’s actually seen it have suggested that while it hints at being something interesting, it’s not been fully realised. Steven Soderbergh even offered to re-edit it, to see whether he could tease it into something better. Schrader rejected the offer though.

Despite the mixed reaction, the talk about the film – from its sex scenes to profiles of Lohan’s difficult on-set behaviour – ensured it got US distribution, and will be in cinemas on August 2nd. Now there’s a slightly pretentious new trailer that seems believe cinema is dead!

The Canyons Clip – Take a look at Lindsay Lohan & James Deen in the Bret Easton Ellis tale

January 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Canyons is definitely an intriguing movie. Despite having Paul Schrader directing and a script from American Psycho’s Bret Easton Ellis, it was part funded through Kickstarter. It also stars the human trainwreck that is Lindsay Lohan, and porn star James Deen.

Last week a fascinating article did the rounds about the difficulties the production faced – many of which were due to Lohan, who comes across as someone desperate to turn things around but simultaneously oblivious to how self-destructive she’s being. This week there have also been suggestions it’s her erratic behaviour that caused the Sundance organisers to reject the movie (although it will be screened privately for potential buyers at the end of the month).

From what we’ve seen so far it’s been a little difficult to tell exactly what the movie is, as the ‘spoof’ trailers we’ve had, have painted it as a grindhouse movie and a 50s noir, even though it’s actually a contemporary LA thriller. However now we get our first lengthy clip from the movie, featuring Lohan creeping around looking for her phone while Deen sleeps. We have to say, the acting shown by the leads isn’t amazing, but we’re certainly intrigued to see the final film.

Scary Movie 5 Trailer – The spoof horror series is back

December 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Many had hoped that 2006’s Scary Movie 4 would be the last we’d see from the franchise, but now it’s returning with a fifth instalment, which parodies everything from Paranormal Activity to Black Swan (so its pisstakes are very up to date then).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French dance company director Pierre is putting on a new production. Jody, a Caucasian late-20s mother of two and her late-20s African American friend Kendra are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody’s extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30s Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry, gets cut from the production and goes berserk.’

Ashley Tisdale, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Jerry O’Connell, Terry Crews and more star in the movie, which is due to hit cinemas on April 12th 2013. Take a look at the trailer below.

Lindsay Lohan Says Her First Lesbian Relationship Was ‘Toxic’

November 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A lot of people have problems with their first gay relationship – worries about what people will think, dealing with issues of identity – but there’s little doubt if you were doing that in the full glare of the world’s media, it would be a lot more difficult. That’s what happened with Lindsay Lohan when she started dating Samantha Ronson back in 2008.

Now Lohan has been talking about that relationship to US Weekly and has suggested it wasn’t a great experience, and that it was particularly tough as they were both in bad places in her life (many saw the Ronson relationship as part of her downward spiral at that time, which ended up with her becoming unemployable – as well as having huge legal troubles – for several years). She says, “I need to love myself first before I could be with anyone else, and I was going through a lot. Two toxic people cannot be together. End of story. We’re friends now. That’s how it started so I think that’s how it was meant to be.”

The media attention was also intense and difficult, with the actress adding, “I was bold enough to say, ‘Yeah I like a girl. And?’ That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day. That’s not fair. And what am I left with? Heartbreak. That was three years ago. It was my last serious relationship.”

She now feels she’s in a better place, “Kids go through ups and downs, try drugs, cigarettes and drinking. It’s human nature. It took a while but it’s like “What was I thinking? Why did I allow so many sycophants and bad influences to be around me?

“I was lonely and didn’t realise it. That’s why I came back home to New York. I never feel lonely there. I see my family and have really good people in my life.”

Following her relationship with Ronson, she said she didn’t identify as lesbian, bisexual or straight, saying she didn’t know how she might feel in the future.

Lohan was talking ahead of the first airing of her comeback role, the TV movie Liz & Dick, in which she plays Elizabeth Taylor. Although if she’s hoping for major plaudits for the parts, she may be out of luck, as many reviews have been scathing and labelled the film unintentionally hilarious.

The Canyons Teaser Trailer – Lindsay Lohan & James Deen ham it up

November 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When you see the acting in this new teaser trailer, you may be wondering what sort of dreadful rubbish this is, but the hamminess is very deliberate, with the vlack & white photography giving this a hint that this a take on cheesy 1950s b-movie noir melodrama, but with a more modern take on sex and relationships.

As the trailer points out, it was partly funded by Kickstarter, but while that’s a platform that usually reserved for unknown filmmakers, this one if directed by Paul Schrader (screenwriter of Taxi Driver),with a script by American Psycho’s Brett Easton Ellis. They went to Kickstarter as they were afraid of the type of censorship traditional funding normally demands.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Canyons is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20′s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.’

Lindsay Lohan stars opposite James Deen – a man who made his name in hardcore porn but is now going legit.

The Canyons Teaser Trailer – James Deen & Lindsay Lohan go grindhouse

October 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While a few porn stars have had minor success in legit movie (Traci Lords probably being the most famous), James Deen (born Bryan Matthew Sevilla) is making his bid with the Canyons, which also stars Lindsay Lohan and Gus Van Sant. Bret Easton Ellis is behind the script, with Paul Schrader directing. Now a teaser trailer has emerged, suggesting this is a tale that will have a very grindhouse, sexploitation feel. Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Canyons is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20′s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.’ No release date is currently set.

Whether you wanted Scary Movie 5 or not, we’re getting it, and now the first image from the movie has shown up online, which featured two of Hollywood’s wild one – Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan – getting in bed together. The duo are apparently being spooked by some ‘Paranoid Activity’ (please feel free to groan).

This isn’t the only movie the two actors are set to appear in together, as they’re also both starring in Machete Kills! Scary Movie 5 should hit cinemas next April.

Charlie Sheen & Lindsay Lohan Join Scary Movie 5

August 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen have joined the cast of Scary Movie 5 for Dimension Films and director Malcolm D. Lee, at least if E! Online’s reports is anything to go by. Last month Lindsay Lohan went into talks to join the sequel, although it appears her deal is finalised.

It isn’t known what character the actress will play, although it is believed that Charlie Sheen will reprise his role as Tom Logan from Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4, despite being killed off in the last movie. Ashley Tisdale has already signed on to star, although it doesn’t appear Anna Faris will be back for this one.

Malcolm D. Lee will direct from a screenplay by David Zucker (Scary Movie 3, Scary Movie 4).

Lindsay Lohan may not be able to stop her car from hitting things, but she’s slowly getting her career back on track, and has now joined the cast of The Canyons, along with adult film star James Deen. The flick is a new indie project from director Paul Schrader and writer Bret Easton Ellis.

Bret Easton Ellis announced the casting via his Twitter account, saying “And I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in THE CANYONS by BEE.” He also added, “Shooting THE CANYONS starring James Deen and Lindsay Lohan: July 9-31 in L.A. Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it…”

The drama is being financed through a successful Kickstarter campaign, which raised over $150,000. The story follows five twenty-somethings in Los Angeles, as they try to attain power and success. Lindsay Lohan will play Tara and Paul Deen is portraying Christian, although no further details were given regarding the characters. Braxton Pope is producing the indie drama.
