New Map To The Stars Trailer – Robert Pattinson reunites with David Cronenberg

August 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

maps-to-the-stars-quad-largeBack in April we got the first trailer for David Cronenberg’s Map To The Stars, and now we get a fresh look with a UK promo, which shows off the great cast, including Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Sarah Gadon, Olivia Williams and Carrie Fisher.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Weiss family are an archetypical Hollywood dynasty – Dr Stafford Weiss (John Cusack) is a psychotherapist whose self-help books have made him a fortune. His wife Cristina (Olivia Williams) is the overbearing mom-ager of their thirteen-year old son, Benjie (Evan Bird), a prodigious child star fresh out of drug rehab and their estranged daughter Agatha (Mia Wasikowska) has recently been released from a psychiatric hospital. Agatha is now back in Hollywood making friends with a wannabe actor/writer limo driver named Jerome (Robert Pattinson) and with a new job as PA to one of Stafford’s clients – the neurotic and tempestuous actress Havana Segrand (Julianne Moore), whose dream of reprising her dead mother’s starring role from the 1960s is beginning to haunt her.’

Map To The Stars is released in UK cinemas on September 26th, 2014. [Read more…]

Maps To The Stars Trailer – David Cronenberg takes on a twisted Hollywood tale with Robert Pattinson & Julianne Moore

April 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David Cronenberg is back and this time he’s taking on Hollywood with Maps To The Stars. He’s gathered a great cast to do it, including Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Sarah Gadon, Olivia Williams and Carrie Fisher.

Now the first trailer has arrived, which you can watch right here.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Led by the loathsome yet funny and touching child-star Benjie, we witness the convoluted world of shallow, selfish celebrities and their minions, all of whom are about to be manipulated and destroyed by the young woman who literally represents the fruit of their twisted machinations, Agatha, Benjie’s tormented, apparently psychotic sister. As much as it is a sharp, comic look at a vacant and corrupt world, MAPS TO THE STARS is also a haunting ghost story.’

It should be in cinemas later this year. [Read more…]

Making a movie about someone who’s dying is a tricky business. On one level it’s a subject that involves inherent drama, but equally you don’t want to make something that sounds like such a downer no one will want to watch it. Likewise, you want people to get emotionally involved, but you don’t want it to be so emotionally manipulative and sentimental that people are nauseated rather than moved.

It’s a balance Now Is Good is constantly trying to work out, succeeding better at some times than others. [Read more…]
