Plastic Trailer – Ed Speleers, Alfie Allen & Will Poulter turn to credit card fraud

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: High octane thriller Thriller tells the story of intelligent and brazen Sam (Ed Speleers), who leads a ring of university students to become credit card thieves in order to augment their income. As their activities become more daring, they accidentally rob a notorious gangster named Marcel (Thomas Kretschmann) and are forced to up their game to pay him back 10 times the amount they stole … with interest. To pay off the debt, they take their scam on the road to Miami; the city of “high stakes”.

After a series of unfortunate mistakes, Sam’s team is still short of the cash needed to clear their debt, so they set their sights on a daring jewellery heist that could not only cover their debt but also make them filthy rich. Their plan turns sour, however, when members of the team start betraying each other. Now it’s up to Sam to finish the scam he started while turning the tables on Marcel before they all go down.

Based on a true story, Plastic’s talented cast of credit card thieves features ring leader Ed Speleers from hit UK series Downton Abbey, and accomplice, BAFTA-winner Will Poulter (We’re the Millers). Additional accomplices in the heist include Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Sebastian De Souza (The Borgias) and beautiful fresh recruit Emma Rigby (The Counselor). Veteran actors Thomas Kretschmann, known for his roles as a heavy in Resident Evil and U-571, and Graham McTavish (The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey, Colombiana), round out the cast.

Plastic is directed by Julian Gilbey, known for his visceral hoodlum thriller Rise of the Foot Soldier and abduction thriller A Lonely Place To Die and produced by Terry Stone, Chris Howard and Daniel Toland. It’ll be out in the UK on May 2nd. [Read more…]

Thomas Kretschmann joins Rupert Friend In Agent 47

March 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

thomas-kretschmannThomas Kretschmann’s star is certainly on the rise, he apparently has a multi-picture deal with Marvel that will start with Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and now he’s signed up to play the villain in Fox’s plans to reboot the videogame Hitman on the big screen, which is going by the name Agent 47.

The project had a major setback when Paul Walker, who was set for the title role, tragically died, but he’s now been replaced by Rupert Friend, playing a deadly assassin with a barcode tattooed on the back of his head. Kretschmann is playing LeClerq, the chairman of Syndicate International, an organisation that is striving to create an army of unstoppable agents, and which Friend’s character must stop.

Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware are also set to star, but it’s not clear who they will play.

Aleksander Bach is directing from a screenplay by Skip Woods and Michael Finch (Predators). Filming has already begun in Berlin. (Source: THR)

Thomas Kretschmann Getting Villainous For Avengers: Age of Ultron

January 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

thomas-kretschmannThere’s been plenty of casting news coming out of the often tight-lipped Marvel in the last few days. Michael Bay and Michael Pena have joined Ant-man, and now it’s been revealed that Thomas Kretschmann (TV’s Dracula) has taken a role in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, according to THR.

It’s been rumoured for a couple of months that the villainous Baron Wolfgang von Strucker would be in the movie, and it’s now been confirmed that is who Kretschmann will play. Von Strucker is a former Nazi officer who later became the head of the terrorist organisation H.Y.D.R.A, becoming the sworn enemy of both Captain America and Nick Fury. In the comics he is ageless and has the ability to die over and over again, but always return.

It’s not known how he will fit into the movie, but it’s believe brother and sister duo Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) work for him. He’s likely to be somehow linked to the sentient artificial being known as Ultron. There’s also a chance he’ll become part of a plot that will have ramifications of the Marvel phase three films.

The movie is due out May 2015.
