Turbo Teaser Trailer – Ryan Reynolds turns talking snail

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

One of Dreamworks Animation’s 2013 offerings is Turbo, which from the looks of the first teaser, is the studio’s take on Cars, although with human drivers and a talking snail rather than living automotives.

Ryan Reynolds stars as the title character, a snail who becomes serendipitously blessed with incredible speed after a bizarre accident. With the help of his new friends, Turbo sets off on a journey to race in the Indianapolis 500. The movie also features the voices of Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, and Ken Jeong.

It reaches UK cinemas next October.

Paul Giamatti & Samuel L. Jackson Going Turbo

February 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Samuel L. Jackson and Paul Giamatti both have form on animated movies, Jackson on the likes of The Incredibles and Giamatti in Robots and The Ant Bully, and now they’re going CG again as THR reports they’ve joined the voice cast of Dreamworks Animation’s Turbo.

The animated film follows an ordinary garden snail with an impossible dream to become the fastest snail in the world. His obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an oddity and outsider in the slow and cautious snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his careful older brother. When he is one day imbued with the power of amazing speed, he embarks on a quest that will see him racing in the Indianapolis 500.

Also signing up are Michael Peña, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith and Snoop Dogg, who join the previously cast Ryan Reynolds, who’ll voice the main character. David Soren is directing and writing from his own original concept, with the movie due out July, 2013.
