Games Of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer Joins The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

natalie-dormerLionsgate has announced that Game Of Thrones star Natalie Dormer has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 & The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, playing Cressida.

Dormer is best known as Margaery Tyrell Game of Thrones and will be seen in Ron Howard’s Rush this September, as well as Ridley Scott’s The Counselor in October. She has also completed production on the indie film Posh. She’s certainly an up and comer.

Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 make up the third and fourth installments of heroine Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

Cressida is a former Capitol resident who takes an important role in Mockingjay.

The blockbuster first installment of The Hunger Games franchise is the 14th highest-grossing North American release of all time and grossed nearly $700 million at the worldwide box office. The second film, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, opens worldwide on November 22, 2013. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will be released worldwide on November 21, 2014 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 opens November 20, 2015.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire International Trailer – Katniss & Peeta head back to the arena

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The November release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is drawing closer, and now a new international trailer has been released, giving us plenty of new footage from the film. It certainly looks dramatic, with rebellion fermenting in the districts and the Capitol trying to quell that by putting former champions back in the arena – including Katniss and Peeta.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.’

The film’s due out November 22nd.

Sam Claflin Gets A Shirtless New Hunger Games: Catching Fire Pic

July 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While we met most of the main Hunger Games players in the first film, one on the new players in Catching Fire who becomes increasingly important is Finnick Odair, a former champion beloved by the women of the Capitol. However while he initially appears arrogant and entitled, he slowly reveals a more complex character.

Now we’ve got a brand new image of Odair, as played by Sam Claflin, from the movie, and he’s shirtless!

The film’s due out November 22nd.

And if you want to see the shirtlessness in motion, you can see it in the recently released new trailer below. [Read more…]

First The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer – ‘She has become a beacon of hope for them, she has to be eliminated’

April 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With the MTV Movie Awards comes the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which I’m sure will have a lot of people very excited. It’s a good intro to the second movie, that manages to intrigue while hiding the big reveal of the main section of the plot.

The trailer sets up the fact that following Katniss and Peeta’s Hunger Games victory, dissent has grown in the districts and she’s now seen as a major threat by the Capitol and they want her out of the way. Indeed, President Snow doesn’t just seem to think Katniss needs to be eliminated. If you’ve read the book you’ll know what that means, although I won’t spoil it if you don’t know, although there are hints in this trailer.

The film is out this November. [Read more…]

Katniss Gets A Hug In A New Hunger Games: Catching Fire Image

April 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s been promised that the trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will debut this weekend during the MTV Movie Awards, but ahead of that a new image from the film has emerged, featuring Katniss getting a hug from younger sister Prim.

The pic is the first released via TheHungerGamesExplorer.com, which lets fans unlocked new photos by sharing at #HungerGamesExplorer at various social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

In the sequel, the Capitol fears the dissent Peeta and Katniss’ Hunger Games victory has caused in the districts, so in the hope of tightening their grip, they organise a new tournament that will pit former Games champions against one another in the arena. That means Katniss and Peeta’s lives are on the lines once more. Catching Fire is released this November.

President Snow Gets A Hunger Games: Catching Fire Fashion Portrait

March 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

catching-fire-snow-portrait
All this week we’ve been posting Capitol Fashion portraits of the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching. Now we’ve reached what we assume is the final one – the evil head of the Capitol himself, President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

Here’s the synopsis for the film: ‘Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark.

Johanna is a former victor from District 7, who like many other champions is forced back into the arena. She’s a ruthless woman who almost immediately butts up against Katniss, although slowly starts to warm to her. Beetee meanwhile is an oddball that most people think will only last a few minutes back in the arena. However Katniss teams up with him and realises how useful his knowledge of electronics will be.

The film’s due out November 22nd.

And if you missed the earlier portraits, click below for:

Finnick, Gale & Peeta Smoulder In Hunger Games: Catching Fire Fashion Posters

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

catching-fire-finnick-portrait
Over the last few days, Lionsgate has been releasing a slew of Capitol Fashion Portraits of various characters, ranging from Katniss to newcomers like Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). Now it’s the turn of the main men, with pics for Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), and newbie Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin).

Finnick is a former champion, known for being cocky, arrogant and a favourite of the ladies of the Capitol. While Katniss initially takes a disliking to him, she come to realise there’s more under the surface than his public image suggests.

One thing we’ve been wondering is why Gale got a portrait? After all, while all the other pics are either Capitol residents or former champions, Gale’s never been out of District 12 (well, he’s been into the woods nearby, but that doesn’t really count.

The film is out November 22nd.
