After Earth Teaser – M. Night Shyamalan goes sci-fi with Jaden & Will Smith

December 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Will and Jaden Smith aren’t having a good time in this teaser, after they crash land on a planet where “everything has evolved to kill humans”, and oh my God, that planet if Earth! M. Night Shyamalan’s movie looks like it could be rather cool, with a bit of an Avatar vibe going on.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.’

It’s due for release June 7th, 2013.

Jaden Smith Looks Futuristic in After Earth Set Photo

February 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s taken Jaden Smith a while to sort out a follow-up to The Karate Kid, but now he’s a couple years older and teaming up with his dad (who’s Will Smith, in case you’ve been under a rock and didn’t know) for M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth.

Now the young star is on set in Costa Rica and tweeting photos of himself looking suitably heroic and futuristic for the sci-fi tale. The film, previously known as 1,000 AE, centres on Will and Jaden, who crash land on earth years after the planet was deemed uninhabitable for humans. After the crash, it’s up to the son, who is viewed as a failed warrior, to save his father. It’ll reach cinemas June 2013.

Zoe Kravitz In Talks For 1000 A.E.

December 6, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

For a while now, Will and Jaden Smith has been attached to M. Night Shyamalan’s planned new sci-fi movie, 1000 A.E.. Now it appears the director is filling out the rest of the cast, as THR report that Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) are both in talks to join the film.

1000 A.E. is set in the future when humans no longer live on Earth after it became inhospitable. The elder Smith is playing a hero, while Jaden is his son, considered a failure as a warrior. When the two crash-land on Earth, it is up to the son to save the dad and prove himself.

Assuming the women do sign on made, Kravitz would play Smith’s daughter, while Okonedo will portray his wife. The current plan is to start shooting early next year for release in 2013.
