New World War Z Trailer Hits – Plus zombies attack a helicopter in a new poster

March 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Despite a rather troubled production history, with the entire final part of the movie needing to be reshot, World War Z certainly looks like it’s going to be worth a look, with the trailers suggesting a zombie movie on a scale we’ve never seen before.

Now a new promo has arrived, with a bit more plot, plenty of Brad Pitt and an awful lot of relentless zombies. It also appears to be the year of trailers featuring people being sucked out of planes, as that’s what happens here, just a few weeks after something similar happened in the Iron Man 3 trailer.

There’s also a new poster, featuring the undead attacking a helicopter, which you can see above. The film hits cinemas June 21st.

World War Z Superbowl Spot – Everywhere you turn it’s Brad Pitt & zombies!

February 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Although World War Z has been hit by delays and major reshoots, there’s no doubt that everything we’ve seen of it so far has looked incredibly cool. Now a few days ahead of the game itself, the movie’s Superbowl TV ad has been released, giving us a fresh look at the zombie mayhem.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Merielle Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Daniella Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

The movie is due out June 21st 2013 (the reshoots delayed it from a planned Christmas 2012 release), so expect plenty more footage and info before then.

First World War Z Trailer – Brad Pitt faces zombies on an epic scale

November 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

World War Z may have had a troubled production, with massive reshoots that saw the entire end of te movie needing to be rejigged, but on the evidence of this trailer we may be in for a treat, with a zombie apocalypse told on a larger scale than we’ve ever seen before. And these are the fast moving, 28 Days Later style zombie, who in the trailer act like a mass force of inhumanity.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. World War Z Teaser Poster Revealed

November 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The promotion of World War Z kicks off in earnest this week. Yesterday we had some brief first look footage, tomorrow we’ve been promised the first full trailer and today we have a teaser poster. It’s a bit of a minimalist one, pretty much just showing us the film’s logo.

But what’s it’s all about, well here’s a synopsis: ‘The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. (Merielle) Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.’

The footage yesterday suggested this will be a zombie movie on a scale we’ve never seen before. Let’s just hope the production issues, which included a delay from Christmas 2012 to summer 2013 so they could completely rehoot the ending, won’t result in a disappointing film.

First World War Z Footage Arrives – The Brad Pitt film promises a massive zombie apocalyse

November 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

World War Z always sounded like a cool movie – Brad Pitt taking on a zombie apocalypse, with a huge budget for special effects – but it’s been a rather troubled production. The studio demanded extensive reshoots, including rewriting and completely overhauling the final thirs of the film. Hopefully they’ve sorted the issues out and the final film will work well. Now we get our first chance to take a look at the film, with some brief footage from ET, showing what appears to be a really big movie. It also promises we should get more on Thursday. It’s due out June 21st 2013.

Director Marc Forster May Be Imagining Nathan For Disney

September 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Marc Forster had a difficult time in the last few years. He was blamed for many of the dramatic failures of Quantum Of Solace, which resulted in it taking a couple of years for him to get his next movie off the ground. However it looked like he was coming back with a vengeance with the Brad Pitt zombie movie World War Z, but that film has now been severely delayed amid reports of huge problems and the need for massive reshoots.

Despite this, he’s looking to the future and TheWrap reports that he’s nearing a deal with Disney to helm Imagining Nathan. It sounds like a decent fit for Forster, taking him back to the themes of Finding Neverland and Stranger Than Fiction. The movie is about a boy called Nathan who retreats into a fantasy world after he’s orphaned at the age of six. 30 years later, his sister tries to help him escape his demons, but Nathan has been diagnosed with a condition which causes him to live in a cartoon-like world.

It’s tough to know quite how that would work, and whether it means a literal cartoon world of just somewhere that outlandish, fantastical things happen. Hopefully we’ll find out more about it soon, as it does sound like it could be interesting.

Damon Lindelof Rewriting World War Z Before Reshoots

June 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It always raises eyebrows when a film need extensive reshoots, as it suggests a film’s in trouble (but not always). However if a script needs major rewriting for those reshoots, it’s pretty much a guarantee a film is under major stress (although with more hope the problem can actually be sorted).

That’s what’s happening with the Brad Pitt starrer World War Z, as Prometheus screenwriter Damon Lindelof has been hired to rewrite the script for World War Z, before the zombie project undergoes extensive reshoots.

Back in March Paramount pushed the adaptation of Max Brooks’ novel from a December 21 release to June 21, 2013, and more recently it’s been revealed the reson for the delay is because of the need for around seven weeks of reshoots. Lindelof will reportedly focus his script work on the third act, although no specific story details were given. The reshoots will commence in September or October. Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote the initial screenplay.

Marc Forster is directing a cast that includes Brad Pitt, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, and James Badge Dale. The story revolves around a United Nations worker (Brad Pitt) who travels the world, interviewing the few human survivors of a worldwide zombie apocalypse.

Although this news is worrying, it’s doesn’t mean the finished film will be a disaster. After all, Men In Black III’s script was so problematic they shut down production partway through filming to sort it out, and that’s turned out to be a decent success. (Source: THR)

Marc Forster Set To Direct Cowboy Ninja Viking

February 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Quantum Of Solace may have been widely derided, but director World War Z is hoping that the Brad Pitt zombie epic World War Z will turn him into a major genre director, and now it looks like he’s found his follow-up.

Deadline reports that Forster is teaming up with Universal Pictures to bring Cowboy Ninja Viking to the big screen. The film follows a secret government program to turn schizophrenics into assassins. The main character comes through the program with the skill sets of a cowboy, ninja and a viking. While most of the patients involved in the program are sent back to insane asylum after the program goes awry in Iraq, he escapes and uses his skills to track down the billionaire who masterminded the program.

The script, by AJ Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo from Image Comics, was original in the hands of Disney, but is was deemed too edgy for their family film mandate and so has now gone to Universal.

World War Z Set To Become A Trilogy

January 4, 2012 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Next Christmas it’s going to be all about the zombies, with Brad Pitt taking on a big budget brood of the undead in World War Z. The film is currently in post-production, but it seems Paramount and director Marc Foster are already keen to turn the adaptation of Max Brooks’ novel into a trilogy.

The LA Times says, ‘For Pitt, the big sci-fi thriller also represents his strongest bid to have a big film franchise of his own, which might be viewed as the missing piece of his career jigsaw puzzle. Forster and Paramount Pictures each view World War Z as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC’s The Walking Dead.’

This is the first we’ve heard about World War Z being expanded into a franchise, and it isn’t known how far ahead plans are for parts two and three, or if it’s just something loosely planned that they’ll look properly at if the first film becomes a hit. In the film, Brad Pitt stars as a United Nations employee who travels the world, interviewing survivors of a worldwide zombie infestation. It’ll be in cinemas in December 21st.
