Dave Franco Gets Engaged To His Boyfriend In A New Bad Neighbours 2 Clip

May 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bad-neighbours-2-dave-franco-engagementA few weeks ago it was confirmed that after some hints and homoeroticism in Bad Neighbours (known simply as Neighbors in the US), Dave Franco’s character, Pete, was going to be an out and proud gay man in the sequel. He’s also getting engaged, and if you haven’t seen it yet, a new clip shows a rather sweet set-up where the frat boys get together to make the proposal a special occasion.

In regard to the decision to allow Peter to come out and get engaged, director Nicholas Stoller has said, “Clearly, we’re playing with the homoerotic tension there [with the relationship between Pete and his frat brother Teddy (Zac Efron)], and I was like, ‘He should just be gay.’ Then in this one, it came up again. [Co-writer] Evan Goldberg brought it up, and he said, ‘I think he should be gay, and part of [his arc] should be the proposal.’ It was kind of all of us coming to the same conclusion.”

Take a look at the sweet clip below. Bad Neighbours 2 is in cinemas now. [Read more…]

Dave Franco’s Frat Brother Character Comes Out As Gay In Bad Neighbours 2

May 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bad-neighbours-dave-francoIn Bad Neighbours (known simply as Neighbors in the US), there were jokes that suggested Dave Franco’s character, Pete, was gay but pretending he wasn’t, as well as playing up the homerotic undertones between him and Zac Efron’s character. Well, with the sequel, they’ve decided to stop being coy about it, as Pete is coming out.

Director Nicholas Stoller talked to Yahoo! about why they decided to be more open about it, which apparently happened after a journalist asked him why he’d never included a gay character in any of his films (such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, and The Five-Year Engagement). It set Stoller thinking, “I was like, ‘I don’t know why. I literally don’t know. I have no good answer for that.’ So this seemed like an organic way to have that happen.”

With the relationship between Pete and Efron’s fellow frat brother, Teddy, he says, “Clearly, we’re playing with the homoerotic tension there, and I was like, ‘He should just be gay.’ Then in this one, it came up again. [Co-writer] Evan Goldberg brought it up, and he said, ‘I think he should be gay, and part of [his arc] should be the proposal.’ It was kind of all of us coming to the same conclusion.”

However, Teddy won’t be following Pete down the lavender path despite the level of their bromance, with Stoller adding, “A lot of Zac’s motivations in the first movie, especially with his girlfriend and stuff, seemed pretty straight. It felt like it might seem like a stunt if we made him gay. But it seemed to just work with Dave.”

Bad Neighbours 2 Trailer – Seth Rogen & Zac Efron are back, and neither can keep their shirts on

January 19, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zac-efron-seth-rogen-neighbors-2-slideI’m pretty much convinced that if Zac Efron sees a script he likes, he tells his agent that he’ll make it, but only if they put in more opportunities to take his shirt off and show off his physique. But it seem that with Neighbours 2 (known as Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising in the us), Seth Rogen also wanted to ensure he could get his shirt off to, as you’ll see in the film’s first trailer.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘Returning stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne are joined by Chloë Grace Moretz for BAD NEIGHBOURS 2, the follow-up to 2014’s most popular original comedy.  Nicholas Stoller again directs in a film that follows what happens when the will of parenthood goes against the bonds of sisterhood.’

The movie will be in UK cinemas May 6th. You can take a look at the trailer below.

Zac Efron Has Super-Abs, Seth Rogen Not So Much In First Official Pic From Neighbors 2

December 31, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zac-efron-seth-rogen-neighbors-2

There have been quite a lot of set pictures of Zac Efron with his top off on the set of Neghbors 2 (which will be Bad Neighbours 2 in the UK). However, it’s only now that the first official pic has arrived, which shows that it’s not just Efron who’ll be taking off his shirt, as Seth Rogen is showing off his chest hair too.

And not to be outdone on the abs front, Rogen has gotten out the magic marker to draw some on.

Not a vast amount is known about the plot of the movie, although the fact it’s likely to have the subtitle ‘Sorority Rising’ suggests that after Efron and co’s frat boys hijinks in the first movie, this time around the ladies will be getting in on the action. The likes of Chloe Moretz and Selena Gomez have been signed up to cause some of that trouble.

It’ll be in cinemas next May. And if you want to see a little more of Zac – with very little to cover his modesty – click here for the recently revealed nude scene from the upcoming Dirty Grandpa.

Bad Neighbours (aka Neighbors) (Cinema)

May 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, Lisa Kudrow
Director: Nicholas Stoller
Running Time: 95 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: May 3rd 2014

The title is the first clue. Any film with a duh title like that is clearly the product of the Hollywood sausage machine, and Bad Neighbours is a classic example. The script seems to be written on autopilot, or on a software programme that probably looks like settings>frat boy comedy>couple of stars>condom gags>90 minutes. It’s predictable, utterly unfunny, full of tiresome knob and beer gabs and a total waste of the talent involved. [Read more…]

Dave Franco & Christopher Mintz-Plasse Join Seth Rogen & Zac Efron In Townies

March 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dave-francoThe cast of Townies is growing into a bit of a Superbad reunion, with Deadline reporting that Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Dave Franco have both joined Seth Rogen in the comedy Townies. They’ll star alongside Zac Efron and Rose Byrne in the movie.

Rogen will play a man who lives close to a fraternity house, which is led by the raucous Efron, and reaches a breaking point with their wild antics. Byrne is set to play the man’s wife, who’s the sensible adult in the relationship.

Franco will be the vice president of the fraternity, who’s also Efron’s best friend. Deadline doesn’t say who Mintz-Plasse will be – so he could be either on the fraternity’s side or Rogen’s.

Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien wrote the script, with Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) set to direct. There’s no news on when it might shoot, but with the cast growing, it probably won’t be too long.

Seth Rogen & Zac Efron’s Townies Lands Director Nick Stoller

May 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nick Stoller (The Five-Year Engagement, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) is in negotiations to direct the collegiate comedy Townies for Universal Pictures, which already has Seth Rogen and Zac Efron onboard to star.

The film is about a family man (Seth Rogen), whose peaceful way of life is turned upside down by an obnoxious fraternity member (Zac Efron). The studio picked up the pitch from writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien for seven figures last summer.

Seth Rogen is also producing alongside longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg, with Andrew J. Cohen, Brendan O’Brien, and James Weaver executive producing. It isn’t known when it might shoot. (Source: THR)
