While most people in Hollywood were busy tucking into Turkey over the Thanksgiving holiday, it seems some people were working, as Tony Scott (who is admittedly British so doesn’t necessarily feel the need to join the festivities) has added another movie to his ever-growing list of potential projects.
According to Variety, Scott signed up over the weekend to helm Narco Sub for 20th Century Fox. Little is known about the script, which was written on spec by David Guggenheim, although it is said to be reminiscent of Tony Scott action-dramas such as Crimson Tide and Man on Fire. The title refers to smaller submarines that drug cartels use to smuggle their product into the United States (and so it’s not exactly a shock it might be a bit reminiscent of Crimson Tide).
The project is considered a priority for Fox, which has put Narco Sub on the fast track. However, Scott is well known for lining up more projects than he’d have time to helm, so we’ll have to wait and see if he’s the one who does actually end up behind the camera.
