Swiss Army Man (Blu-ray Review) – Things get a little gay between a man & Daniel Radcliffe’s farting corpse

April 9, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Paul Dano
Director: Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert
Running Time: 97 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: April 10th 2017 (UK)

It’s the call every actor dreams about, when someone asks them, ‘Will you play a farting corpse which has a direction-finding erection?’ The lucky man to get that role was Daniel Radcliffe, who stars as a dead guy dubbed Manny. He’s found washed up on a beach by Hank (Paul Dano), a man stranded on an island whose just about to kill himself. However, discovering Manny starts to change Hank’s perspective – not least because it allows Hank to ride the massively flatulent body back to the mainland.

Although Manny is definitely dead, things take an unexpected turn when he starts to talk, and also reveal other powers that help Hank survive in the wilderness. However, Manny has no memory of his previous existence, so Hank begins to teach him about life and love, and in the process begins to think that perhaps there are things worth living for. That includes a woman whose picture is on a phone, as well as in the growing relationship between Hank and Manny, which moves towards being a romance. Oh, and there’s Manny’s erection, which helps point them in the direction they need to go to. [Read more…]

Swiss Army Man Red Band Trailer – Take a look at Daniel Radcliffe’s farting corpse’s boner compass!

May 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

swiss-army-man-daniel-radcliffeSwiss Army Man is a film first, as it’s almost certainly the only movie in history that almost immediately become knows as the ‘farting corpse movie’. It’s also resulted in the most unlikely headline for a post I think I’ve ever written. The first trailer gave us a taste of just how bizarre and Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano movie was, and now that’s been amplified with a Red Band trailer.

It also gives us our first look at Radcliffe’s much talked about boner compass!

The film follows a castaway man (Dano), who has reached the end of his tether living alone when a corpse (Radcliffe) washes up on the island. The movie charts the growing relationship between the man and flatulent dead guy, which as you’ll see below, gets increasingly surreal and rather romantic.

Swiss Army Man is apparently a real audience divider, but it certainly looks intriguing. Expect to see it in cinemas later this year. And in case you’re wondering the scene right at the end is one that got many people talking, where Radcliffe is ridden like a jet-ski, powered by his farts! [Read more…]

Swiss Army Man Trailer – Daniel Radcliffe channels his best homoerotic farting corpse

April 4, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

swiss-army-man-daniel-radcliffeWhen Swiss Army Man debuted at Sundance, it got a rather mixed reaction, partly because nobody could believe that the movie featured Daniel Radcliffe as a farting corpse. The fact that despite being dead, his erection (covered up, of course) prominently features also got a lot of attention, while many pointed out it’s verging on the edge of a necrophiliac gay romance.

However, unless you were at the festival, you couldn’t actually see the movie. Now though, a trailer has arrived so we can get a taste of the film, and if you watch it, you’ll quickly realise that reports that this is a very unusual film were not exaggerations.

Daniel Radcliffe Talks About His Bionic Swiss Army Man Erection

January 25, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

At this year’s Sundance Film Festival there’s probably one film that’s been talked about more than any other – Swiss Army Man. It’s been dividing critics and there’s also been talk of walk-outs from screenings, largely because not everyone can quite get a movie about the growing relationship between a castaway man (Paul Dano), and an extremely flatulent corpse (Daniel Radcliffe).

Described by some as puerile and by others as oddly profound, the surreal movie doesn’t just have Radcliffe farting (to the extent his body is used as a kind of jet-ski at one point), but also grows increasingly homoerotic – something that apparently isn’t just hinted at and eventually leads to a necrophiliac kiss. Then there’s Radcliffe’s erection, which despite his being a corpse has a prominent role in the movie.

Inevitably Daniel was asked about this, and exactly how the filmmakers pulled off reanimating his excited member (unsurprisingly he wasn’t method-acting this part of the movie). Vulture‘s Kyle Buchanan was the man who broached the subject, writing, ‘Since I’m a responsible journalist who’s curious about low-budget practical effects, I asked Radcliffe about his erection. How’d they manage that wiggly piece of equipment, which gets plenty of close-ups as it points the way home through Radcliffe’s pants?

‘“That day actually came quite far into the shoot, and we’d sort of been building up to it for a while,” said Radcliffe. “And also, you’ve got to remember that the directors have a little bit of experience with moving dicks, because they directed the ‘Turn Down For What’ video,” where one hyped-up dancer gets so excited that he boasts a sweatpants-straining member. Radcliffe grinned: “So I knew I was in good hands when it came to that.”

‘How did the mechanical boner rig work? Radcliffe said it went through several iterations. “One of the pieces that I had on was just a wooden — wow, I can’t believe I’m telling you this — it was like the end of a broom. It was all just like one line, and too smooth. So that was the one note that I gave, and they took it and ran with it.” Radcliffe started laughing. “Is this too much information?”’
