Simon Pegg, Nick Frost & More In First Pic From The World’s End

December 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Worlds-End-pic1We’ve already had a poster for The World’s End, but now as a bit of a Christmas treat, Simon Pegg has tweeted the first official picture from the movie, which reunites the actor with Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright.

It’s a pic full of top British talent with Pegg and Frost alongside Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Paddy Considine. Filming is now winding down, as while I’ve been writing this, Frost has tweeted, ‘I’m officially wrapped on The Worlds End. Wow. What a trip!’

Here’s the synopsis: ’20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.’

The film hits UK cinemas on August 14th 2013.

Pegg & Wright’s World’s End Aims For September Shoot

May 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For a couple years now Edgar Write and Simon Pegg have been teasing fans with hints about a film called The World’s End. We knew they were writing it, but there’s been precious little firm news. However now that the script is complete, it’s been revealed things are moving forward, with a September shoot planned and a release tentatively set for spring 2013.

The film will conclude the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (also known as the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy), following Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. Edgar Wright will once again direct Pegg and his longtime on-screen companion Nick Frost.

Here is the official synopsis, ’20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.’

Once Edgar Wright is finished with The World’s End, he will move directly into The Night Stalker, a big screen adaptation of the cult TV series, which is set to star Johnny Depp as Kolchak, a Chicago newspaper reporter who stumbles into stories based in the Supernatural.
