Ain’t Them Bodies Saints director David Lowery has been busy looking at possible new projects over the last couple of months, such as remake of Pete’s Dragon and The Old Man and the Gun, which has Robert Redford set to star. Now he’s picked up the languishing graphic novel adaptation Torso, according to THR.
The project is based on Brian Bendis’ true-crime graphic novel, based Elliot Ness’ time in Cleveland after he took down legendary Chicago gangster Al Capone. He becomes obsessed with tracking down a serial killer who is leaving human torsos behind, along taunting notes to the police.
Brian Bendis commented, “It’s a cool true story that very little people know of. You think you know the story of Elliot Ness? You don’t. You know the story of serial killers? You don’t. And that’s how I kept the faith.”
A film adaptation has been mooted for quite a while, with David Fincher attached to direct back in 2006. There’s no news on when Lowery hopes to shoot the movie.
