Bryan Singer’s H+ The Digital Series Premieres Its First Two Episodes

August 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago we reported that Bryan Singer was due to release the first parts of the web series he’s produced, H+, on August 8th. Well now episodes 1 & 2 are here, and you can watch them above and below.

The 48-part sci-fi show takes viewers on an episodic, apocalyptic journey into the future where consumers are rapidly installing a chip called H+ into their nervous systems that allows them to access the Internet 24 hours a day – by just thinking it. One day, a virus is released – causing a third of the world’s population to die instantly. The series deals with the massive political and human changes that take place, the fight for survival and the mystery to discover who is behind this atrocity.

The series is directed by Stewart Hendler (Sorority Row), and stars an acclaimed international cast that includes Alexis Denisof (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Amir Arison (Law & Order: SVU) and David Clayton Rogers (Jane By Design). Bryan Singer comments, “Our first venture into the digital space gives us the freedom to engage fans with new content that is immersive, interactive and is tailored to be enjoyed online, H+ The Digital Series on YouTube provides us with a strong two-way dialogue with our fans, creating a deeper and ongoing connection.”

The first two parts are definitely intriguing, and suggest this is a series that might be worth sticking with. You can subscribe to H+ via its Youtube channel.

Jake Gyllenhaal Gets Sexily Beardy For A New Details Cover

August 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jake Gyllenhaal rarely takes a bad photo, but even I was surprised by how hot he looks with a full-on woofy beard on the cover of the new Details magazine. It just deepens my almost stalker-ish crush on him. He’ll next appear in End Of Watch, which hits UK cinemas November 23rd.

Crush Of The Day: The Guys Of Leave It On The Floor

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The sparkling LGBT themed musical Leave It On The Floor began its exclusive run at London’s Leicester Square Theatre on Wednesday (August 1st, 2012) at will screen at Ireland’s GAZE LGBT film festival this weekend, with some more cinemas screenings up and down the UK before its DVD release on September 10th.

The film is full of hot guys showing off that not only do they look pretty, but they can sing, dance and act. We caught up with Leave It On The Floor director Larry Sheldon when the movie screened at the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival earlier this year, and you can read more about that here. Or you can check out the trailer here. And just because we can, you can check out the film’s guys, including the incredibly lean yet muscular Philip Evelyn, below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Sheldon Larry’s audacious, raunchy and big-hearted musical – with songs by Beyonce’s music director Kim Burse and choreography by Beyonce’s dance master Frank Gatson Jr. – takes us into the fabulously funky world of voguing. (Remember the documentary Paris is Burning?) Here the setting is contemporary downtown LA. Our hunky, homeless hero Brad , discarded by his homophobic mom, falls in with the members of the House of Eminence, ruled by the stern aging diva Queef Latina, who keeps a careful, loving watch over her makeshift family of runaways and throwaways. When two of her crew fall for Brad, the Queef is royally unamused.’ [Read more…]

Where The Bears Are Web Series Arrives

August 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

where-the-bears-are
Early last month we reported that the fun looking web series Where The Bears Are was due to hit the internet in August. Well now the first of the 26 episodes is here and you can watch it above.

The morning after a birthday party a hairy bear finds a hot cub in his bed, before he discovers a dead man in his bathtub. As you may have guessed from that, it’s a bit of a mystery series, although is doesn’t forget to have hot, burly and hairy guys, all having a whole lot of fun (it is intended for mature audiences, after all). The brainchild of a group of film and TV veterans, co-creator Rick Copp (The Brady Bunch Movie) has described it as, “This is basically The Golden Girls meets Murder, She Wrote about three bears living together in Silver Lake in Los Angeles, who attempt to solve the murder of a party guest that turned up dead in their bathroom.”

You can keep up with the series over at wherethebearsare.tv or follow it on Facebook and/or Twitter. [Read more…]

Was Catwoman Bisexual In The Dark Knight Rises?

August 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s a theory that’s started doing the rounds that perhaps Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) wasn’t just interested in Bruce Wayne, she also liked a bit of lady action on the side. The idea comes via Queerty and there is actually some evidence for it – more than there usually is for this sort of thing.

The reason Queerty has been wondering is because of the presence of the character played by Juno Temple in the movie. To be honest, there didn’t seem to be much point for her being in the film, other than to be the “street smart Gotham girl” she’d been described as prior to the film’s release and to apparently live with Kyle. But was there something sexual between them?

Here we leave the actual movie, which didn’t really suggest a sexual relationship, and go to the comics. Temple’s character is based on Catwoman’s friend Holly Robinson (indeed Juno is credited as Holly on IMDB). Holly was created by Frank Miller for his legendary 1987 miniseries, Batman: Year One. In that first incarnation she was an underage prostitute who Selina takes under her wing while she takes up a career as a cat burglar.

While Holly disappeared for much of the ’90s, she returned in Ed Brubaker’s Catwoman series in the early 2000s. This time around she was a recovering drug addict and a lesbian who acts as Selina’s eyes and ears on the streets (she even briefly became Catwoman during Kyle’s maternity leave). Holly ever earned Catwoman a 2004 GLAAD media award.

Temple wasn’t in The Dark Knight Rises all that much, so it’s tough to say which incarnation of Holly she was mainly based on, although it certainly raises the possibility that her relationship with Selina wasn’t entirely plantonic. And if it was, there’s still a decent chance Temple’s character is a lesbian, even if it isn’t mentioned. Sure a lot of this is speculation beyond the movie, but it’s throws up some interesting ideas nevertheless, especially if Catwoman ends up getting her own spin-off.

Watch ‘KFC Loves Gays with John Goodman’

August 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the last few weeks there’s been a bit on controversy in the US after Dan Cathy, COO of Chick-fil-A (the second biggest chicken restaurant chain in the US), went on record to say that the company was officially against marriage equality, saying “Guilty as charged… We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit.”

Although Chick-fil-A has since vaguely backtracked and various franchisees had distanced themselves from the corporate position and the fact they’ve given millions to anti-gay groups, the controversy has rumbled on. Even the Jim Henson company has dumped the chain, and Ed Helms has go on record to say he’s joined a boycott!

Now Funny Or Die has its response, where good ‘ol John Goodman rocks up as Colonel Sanders, to tell us KFC loves the gays. Considering how much I love KFC, I never had any doubt that they loved me too, but it’s nice to have the Colonel (or at least John Goodman) say it.

Crush Of The Day: Stuart Brennan

August 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Stuart Brennan first made waves playing a boxer in Risen, for which he won a BAFTA Wales award. Now he’s back with the horror movie The Reverend (co-starring Rutger Hauer and Tamer Hassan), which hits UK cinemas on Friday and DVD on August 6th. He’s also oddly cute, so more than worthy of being included as my crush of the day – plus he hails from Barnstaple in Devon, just up the road from where I grew up.

Although he’s just 27 years old, he didn’t just star in Risen and The Reverend, he also produced them and wrote Risen (along with Neil Jones), so he really is a bit of a film renaissance man. Anyway, enjoy the pics (click on them for a larger version). [Read more…]

Take A Look At Some Bloopers From The Steam Room Stories Gang

July 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago we posted the rather fun edition of the popular web series Steam Room Stories, in which a guy manages to get a kiss by saying he’s going to audition for a gay role in a movie. Now the guys over at SRM have provided us with an extremely fun bloopers video they’ve put together, and which we’ve embedded above.

Quite frankly, we’d be happy just to watch the parade of hot guys wearing only towels, but when they’re having fun, making mistakes and screwing around, it’s all the better! Take a look above, and if you fancy checking out more Steam Room stories, you can head over to their Youtube channel – as well as watching the latest instalment, ‘Not So Magic Mike’, below. Takes A Look At Todrick Hall’s ‘Cinderfella’ Gay Parody

July 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Here’s a oddly intriguing one, which is partway between a music video and short film, with US X Factor finalist Todrick Hall starring as Cinderfella, who wants to go see all the boys at the ball, but who’s wicked stepmother (Janice Dickinson) won’t let him go. Mixing Disney classic tunes with modern pop numbers, it’s a rather camp and fun concoction that sets out to say love in all its forms is a good thing. It also features the likes of Lance Bass, Shangela and Willam Belli.

Hall says, “I wanted to tell this famous fairy tale in a new and innovative way, combining familiar top 40’s songs with classic Disney melodies. This story speaks volumes and I think that love is as classic as this fairy tale. It’s time for us to legalize love in all shapes and colors.”

Montgomery Clift Biographer Remembers The Classic Gay Star

July 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Monday marked 46 years since troubled star Montgomery Clift, who was undoubtedly one of the best actors of the Golden Age of Hollywood, died of a coronary occlusion brought on by alcoholism. He was only 45.

To mark the event, his biographer, Patricia Bosworth, has released a new video in which she remember the star, and talks a little about his homosexuality. “He was, of course, gay,” she says. “He was mysterious and I think that also appealed to audiences in those days. Of course, it tormented him that he had to hide his sexuality, which he did. He was an icon to the gay community.”

Bosworth’s book, Montgomery Clift – A Biography is perhaps the most in-depth look at the actor, although the biography by Clift’s onetime love Maurice Leonard is worth a look too.
