Synopsis: ‘Heartland tells the story of Lauren, an artist living in suburban Oklahoma, who has moved back home with her mom, Crystal, following the sudden death of her girlfriend. The relentlessly chipper Crystal assumes her daughter is headed back to the straight and narrow, but Lauren is only paying lip service to her mother’s plans to stave off the pain of the recent tragedy.
‘When Lauren’s brother Justin comes home with his uptight girlfriend Carrie to help launch a local winery, he enlists Lauren and Carrie to help with the marketing concept. Although the two women are quite different, an attraction between them builds as Lauren rediscovers her sense of fun, and Carrie questions her traditional future. Eventually, the two begin a passionate affair that creates havoc when the secret comes out.’

The LGBT-centric subscription streaming service
There’s been much discussion about the lack of decent roles written for women and about the fact few major movies have been directed by women. However, Below Her Mouth has turned the male-dominated paradigm on its head, with a movie about women, where the entire crew was also female.
It’s always nice to see Anthony Rapp on the screen, and now he’s back with bwoy, the latest movie from Parallel Sons and The Reception director John G. Young. The movie premiered last year at Chicago’s Reeling Film LGBTQ+ Festival to a pretty postive response.
With Jane Lynch executive producing, as well as the Glee star appearing alongside a great list of guest stars – many of which feature in the trailer below – Dropping The Soap certainly looks like it’s got plenty of potential. Award-winning writer/director Del Shores’ play, Sordid Lives, has had quite a life, spawning a movie and TV series. Now he’s returning to that world for a sequel, A Very Sordid Wedding. The trailer for the movie has now arrived, which you can watch below.

A Fantastic Woman – which features a transgender lead character – may be one of the foreign-language films making waves this year. At least Sony Pictures Classics will be hoping so, as just before its in competition debut at the Berlin FIlm Festival, the distribution company has announced they’ve acquired the rights to the movie in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
