July 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

‘A number of drinks into the first evening and a dark secret is revealed. The house they rented is the sight of a mass murder of teenage girls on a sleepover 15 years earlier. Blood still stains the floors under replacement carpets. The killer still runs free.

‘The girls take it for what it seems – a fun story for a rainy night in front of a roaring fire. But after one of them disappears and is discovered , dead – the story doesn’t seem so fun anymore. One by one, they die, killed by their own particular vanity. The fun-filled week will turn into a race against death. Who will make it out alive?’

Life Partners Clip – Leighton Meester & Adam Brody star in the LGBT-infused film that’s set to open Outfest

July 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

life-partnersTomorrow is the opening of LA’s Outfest, arguably the biggest LGBT film festival in the world, and the movie chosen for the first night is Life Partners, which features a great cast including the likes of Leighton Meester, Gillian Jacobs, Adam Brody, Beth Dover, Gabourey Sidibe, Greer Grammer, Mark Feuerstein, and SNL’s Kate McKinnon and Abby Elliott.

It’s a very good time then to take a look at the trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The comedy is about a codependent friendship between two very different girls – type-A Paige (Gillian Jacobs) and lesbian slacker Sasha (Leighton Meester) – who have made a pact. Age Of Consent Trailer – Inside the sex-infused world of one of London’s gay leather bars

July 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

age-of-consent-poster-slideThe documentary Age Of Consent premiered back in March at London’s BFI Flare Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, and now it’s set to make its NYC debut on Saturday July 26th At NewFest! That seems like a good reason to take a look at the trailer for this no-holds barred look in the gay leather bar scene.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘This documentary by festival favourites Lum and Verow tells the story of The Hoist (open since 1996 and now one of London’s only surviving leather bars) and in doing so tells the story of gay sex from decriminalization to Grindr, taking in police entrapment, the Spanner case, safer sex and Section 28. Age of Consent is informative and eye-opening – did you know more gay men were arrested and convicted of gross indecency in 1989 than in 1966? – while being playful, funny and downright filthy.

‘Described by the barman as a ‘sneaky, sexy, dirty wee hole’, The Hoist and its patrons could be seen as representing the antithesis of the recent trend in mainstream gay politics towards assimilation. But, with encroaching gentrification and more people using the internet to hook up, what does the future hold?’

Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story Trailer – A Navy SEAL’s journey to living authentically as a trans woman

July 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lady-valor-kristin-beck-storySynopsis: In Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story, former U.S. Navy SEAL Christopher Beck embarks on a new mission as Kristin Beck. Kristin’s journey in search of the American ideals that she protected have a whole new meaning as she lives her life truthfully as a transgender woman.

Kristin served for over 20 years as a member of the elite special forces Navy SEALs on SEAL Team 1 as well as the United States Special Warfare Development Group what many in the public refer to as SEAL Team 6. She retired in 2011 with the rank of Senior Chief and continued high-level clearance work for the United States government and the Pentagon.

But Kristin hid her true identity throughout and after her service knowing she would lose it all if anyone were to know her secret. In 2013, a year and a half after retirement, Kristin came out publicly first on LinkedIn and on CNNs Anderson Cooper 360 soon thereafter. Many friends, colleagues and family were taken by surprise.

This film brings exclusive interviews from Kristins family and friends about her service, as well as their reactions to her coming out. It also includes exclusive footage of Chris Beck in training and combat. The documentary was filmed only a few months after the AC360 piece had aired, and the truth is still fresh and emotional for those closest to her. While many people have been supportive, some in the public have expressed more bigotry than she ever expected. After a lifetime of service, Kristin has learned that her fight for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness did not end on the battlefield.

The film will be released on VoD and DVD in the US this fall from Wolfe Video. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Broke Straight Boys TV Trailer – The gay for pay porn site tries a reality TV series

June 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

broke-straight-boys-tv-pictureWe’re not quite sure what’s going on with this one, but gay for pay porn site Broke Straight Boys seems to have decided it would be a good plan to make a reality television series, offering a backstage look at these ‘straight’ boys who will do anything for cash.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A peek at the Broke Straight Boys Reality Show is here! Prepare yourself for one of the most unique series ever made for television. Its polarizing content and its visceral effect on viewers is undeniable. Without apology, this series provides an uncensored look into the lives of people who make porn… and more specifically, straight men who do gay porn and the multi-million dollar company that provides the platform.

‘Though no explicit porn is shown in the series, the mere suggestion of what they do and the insight into their chosen profession makes Broke Straight Boys a true character study, bringing the viewer into a world they may not have known existed and will surely never forget.’

It’s an odd but potentially interesting idea, although I can’t escape the feeling it’s essentially a publicity stunt, taking on the idea that the guys on gay for pay sites aren’t really straight, and often not quite as ‘regular’ as they appear. However the show seems to want to show they’re all into manly, straight things, have suitably masculine arguments (which sound perhaps a little contrived), and there are plenty of women around to show how much they’re into lady bits – even if the guys do get very close to one another in exchange for money.

We’re still not 100% all these guys are as straight as they’re paid to say they are, but if gay for pay is your thing, this could be the series for you! There’s no news on whether the show will actually air on TV or whether it will just be online (where it would essentially just be an advert for the site).

Take a look at the pretty much safe for work trailer below. [Read more…]
