There were a lot of raised eyebrows when David Cronenberg cast Robert Pattinson in Cosmopolis, largely because it seemed such a jump from the world of Twilight. However as people started to charge their mind when the teaser trailer debuted, and this new French trailer is likely to further convince people this will show a different side to Pattinson and it’s likely to be intense! The film, based on Don DeLillo’s book, sees R-Patz as young billionaire Eric Packer, who starts out just wanting to get a haircut, but as the day progresses and he travel around New York, he must deal with the fallout from the decisions he’s made in his life. Cosmopolis will compete at Cannes in May should be out in cinemas later this year and it look like it’s gonna be rather unusual.

Your Sister’s Sister Trailer
A year after his brother Tom’s death, Jack (Mark Duplass) is an emotionally unstable slacker. When he makes a scene at a memorial party, Tom’s ex-girlfriend Iris (Emily Blunt) offers up her family cabin on an island in the Pacific Northwest so Jack can seek catharsis in solitude. Once there, however, he runs into Iris’ sister Hannah (Rosemarie DeWitt), a lesbian reeling from the abrupt end of a seven-year relationship who finds solace in the affable Tom’s unexpected presence, and the two bond over a long night of drinking. The blurry evening concludes with an awkward sexual incident made worse by Iris’ sudden presence at the cabin the next morning, which sets into motion a twisted tale of ever-complicated relationships. The film hits the UK on June 29th.
Christian Bale & Bradley Cooper In Talks For American Bullsh*t
With David O’Russell putting the finishing touches on The Silver Linings Playbook, there’s been a lot of interest in what he’ll move onto next. He’s got quite a few movies in the works, but now it appear American Bullshit has moved towards the front of the pack, with Deadline reporting Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper are now attached to star and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures is putting together a deal to finance the movie.
Eric Singer’s based on a true story script, which has been around for a while and at one point was going to be helmed by Ben Affleck, centres on a con artist who goes to work for the FBI to bust open a wide-ranging conspiracy case, which reaches from Washington D.C. to Atlantic City. The sting ended up taking down several dodgy US congressmen.
The $30-$40 million movie will hopefully shoot in January, although with O’Russell having deals on several other pictures too, it’s likely something’s going to have to move around if they’re going to keep to that schedule.

Charlize Theron Set To Be Agent 13 In Rupert Wyatt’s Sci-fi Film
After Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, the world was pretty much at Rupert Wyatt’s feet, and while Fox has been urging him towards making a sequel as soon as possible, he’s been looking around at various other possibilities. Now Variety reports that he’s locked in to helm Agent 13, based on a script by newcomer T.S. Nowlin.
It’s described as an action sci-fi film, but if you want to know what it’s about you’re out of luck, as plot details are being kept under wraps. It’s safe to say that the film will involve some sort of agent though, and there’s a pretty good chance that role will be taken by Charlize Theron, who’s attached to appear in the movie.
The film doesn’t have a studio home yet, but with the director and star now attached, most of the major studio are showing interest.
Coraline Studio Laika Planning Goblins
While conventional thinking suggested stop-motion animation was pretty doomed after CG movie took off, Ardman and a new company called Laika have battled against that idea and proved it still has a place on cinema screens. Laika worked on Corpse Bride, Coraline and the upcoming ParaNorman, and now Variety reports they’re working on a movie version of Philip Reeve’s book Goblins.
The animation director from Fantastic Mr Fox, Mark Gustafson, will helm the film, although it sounds like it’s farily early days as no voice cast has been revealed.
Here’s the synopsis of the book, ‘This is a wild world of magical creatures and heroic adventure from the extraordinary imagination of Philip Reeve. The squabbling goblins who live in the great towers of Clovenstone spend their time fighting and looting. Only clever young Skarper understands that dark magic created by a vanquished sorcerer is rising again. From the lands of men come fortune-seekers – and trolls, giants, cloud-midens, boglins, swamp monsters, tree-warriors and bloodthirsty goblins are swept into a fabulous magical conflict to thrill all fantasy fans.’
Stephenie Meyer Goes Down A Dark Hall
Although she’s best known for writing the Twilight books, Stephenie Meyer is also very interested in film and has even set up a production company so she can usher movies onto the big screen. Now Variety reports that she’s picked up the rights to somebody else’s young adult book with the hope of turning it into a movie.
The novel is Louis Duncan’s spooky 1974 tome, Down A Dark Hall, is about a young girl named Kit Gordy who goes to a boarding school called Blackwood where she is one of only four students. While this is a bit odd to start with, the situation gets worse when Kit discovers that Blackwood is haunted by an evil curse.
Wyck Godfrey, who served as a producer on all of the Twilight movies, is currently in negotiations to produce the project as well, so it sounds like they’re looking at this as a potential new franchise to fill the gap when Twilight is over.
Michael Pitt Decides That You Can’t Win
Michael Pitt could have charted a course into the mainstream, but he’s always flirted round the edge of that, only dipping into it when he gets a particularly interesting role such as his recent stint in Boardwalk Empire. Otherwise he’s stuck with more interesting projects.
Now he’s starting to put together his own movies and he’s planning to star in and produce You Can’t Win, based on Jack Black’s (no, not that one) 1928 semi-autobiographical book about his travels. Black spent time amongst the hobos, infiltrating their secret world and hopping onto freight trains to travel the US.
Robinson Devor (Zoo) will direct, with him and Pitt working on the script alongside Barry Gifford and Charles Mudede.
Pitt has always seemed like he could be a big star, but has chosen not to go down that route, and while You Can’t Win is unlikely to put him into the a-list, it could well be another interesting film from the actor.
Anthony Hopkins Gets An Uncanny Makeover To Play Hitchcock
Production is just about to begin on Hitchcock (formerly called Hithcock And The Making Of Psycho), which sees Anthony Hopkins in the titles role. Now People has revealed the first image of the actor in makeup and the resemblance is uncanny.
The film is the feature directorial debut of documentarian Sacha Gervasi, and also stars Helen Mirren as the director’s wife, Alma; Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh; Jessica Biel as actress Vera Miles; and James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins. Toni Collette will play Peggy Robertson, Hitchcock’s assistant; Danny Huston is set to be Whitfield Cook, a friend of Alma.
It’ll be interesting to hear when the first footage arrives, whether Hopkins has got Hitchcock’s distinctive voice down too.
Storage 24 Trailer – Noel Clarke tries to escape a predator
The first trailer and poster have arrived for Storage 24, which is bidding to be this year’s breakout Brit sci-fi flick. The film stars BAFTA award winner Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, 4.3.2.1) – who also wrote the movie – Antonia Campbell Hughes (Bright Star) Laura Haddock (The Inbetweeners Movie) and Colin O’Donoghue (The Rite), and is directed by Johannes Roberts (F, When Evil Calls). Here’s the synopsis: ‘London is in chaos. A military cargo plane has crashed leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware London is in lockdown, Charlie (Noel Clarke) and Shelley (Antonia Campbell-Hughes), accompanied by best friends Mark (Colin O’Donoghue) and Nikki (Laura Haddock), are at Storage 24 dividing up their possessions after a recent break-up. Suddenly, the power goes off. Trapped in a dark maze of endless corridors, a mystery predator is hunting them one by one. In a place designed to keep things in, how do you get out?’ The film hits cinemas June 29th.
