Johnny Depp & Edgar Wright Up For Neil Gaiman Time Travel Movie

October 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

johnny-deppWhile there has been a huge amount of talk about adapting Neil Gaiman’s books and stories for the screen, relatively few have actually been made, with the exception of the likes of Coraline. Now another of his children’s books is up for adaption, Fortunately the Milk.

THR reports that Johnny Depp is in talks to star in the movie, with Edgar Wright directing. Flight Of The Conchords and The Muppets’ Bret McKenzie will write the script, for what will be a mixture of live-action and animation.

Here’s a description of the book from Amazon, ‘A little boy and his little sister awake one morning, milkless. Their mother is away on business, their father is buried in the paper, and their Toastios are dry. What are young siblings to do? They impress upon their father that his tea is also without milk and sit back to watch their plan take effect. But something goes amiss, and their father doesn’t return and doesn’t return some more. When he does, finally, he has a story to tell, a story involving aliens; pirates; ponies; wumpires (not the handsome, brooding kind); and a stegosaurus professor who pilots a Floaty-Ball-Person-Carrier (which looks suspiciously like a hot-air balloon). There is time travel, treachery, and ample adventure, and, fortunately, the milk he has procured is rescued at every turn.’

Brent Corrigan Explains Why He Didn’t Want To Be Involved In James Franco’s Gay Murder Movie, King Cobra

October 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sean-paul-lockhartIn the last few days there’s been a huge amount of interest in a new movie James Franco is producing and starring in, which tells the story of a real life murder case in which gay porn producer Bryan Kocis was brutally killed. The events involved gay porn legend Sean Paul Lockhart (also known by his stage name, Brent Corrigan), who started his career as underage performer working for Kocis.

After Lockhart became one of the most popular gay porn stars in the world, he got into a legal battle with Kocis over his stage name, and then was tangentially involved in Bryan’s murder, as killers Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes wanted to lure Lockhart to work with them to make a million dollar porn flick.

However, Sean wasn’t interested in being involved in Franco’s movie about the event – despite being asked to consult and take a small role – and he’s taken to Facebook to say why.

He writes, ‘The internet has been a buzz regarding some recent news that a movie is being filmed right now in New York State chronicling the Bryan Kocis murder and the early days of my adult career.

‘I was originally approached to be a part of the film as a consultant and the cast. I was asked to play a small part in the film and declined the role.

‘Ultimately, I chose to move forward with my own plans to finally release my book in place of taking part in someone elses presentation of events that I personally lived as a young adult.

‘It’s going to be an exciting coming year! The book is nearly finished and is now going through edits and rewrites. Even with the time that has passed, the memories are still very real and raw for me. I look forward to finally telling my story, beginning middle and end, with an earnest stroke.

‘Thanks for being so patient, everyone!’

He has also suggested on Twitter that he has reservations about the direction the movie has taken, saying, ‘I declined all offers/requests to be a part of their movie. You’ll see why when you see the film.’

He also adds that there are parts of the story that have never been told. ‘Halfway thru the civil suit with #CobraKiller owner Bryan Kocis I was prevented from speaking any further details regarding underage work… What almost no one knows, because of that lawsuit: I was not allowed to tell the WHOLE truth about the underage work for Bryan #KingCobra… Bryan Kocis knew full well how old I was before I did any paid video shoots for him. The whole story is in #Incorrigible [his book] #KingCobra’.

There are hints among Lockhart’s tweets that he really doesn’t like the idea of the film, but has decided to temper his criticism, such as initially criticising the actor cast to play him – Garett Clayton – saying, ‘I was 17-21 in the years the screenplay spans. I looked much younger. He doesn’t embody Brian’s preference for not legal boys’.

However after seeing the first pic of the actor on the set, he said ‘Looks just like me at 17 ;-)’ (although there is of course the chance he was being sarcastic). Lockhart still doesn’t seem impressed by the film, but doesn’t want to go to war against it, as long as he’s able to tell his own truth.

Ian McKellen Encourages Gay Actors To Come Out, As The Closet Is ‘A Really Nasty Place To Live’

October 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ian-mckellenWhile it’s traditionally thought that actors are either going to make it in the movies when they’re young or not at all, it certainly wasn’t true for Ian McKellen, who as a young actor gained an impressive reputation on the stage but didn’t get many film roles.

Then, in 1998 in response to Maggie Thatcher’s anti-gay policies, he came out, which many at the time thought was career suicide. However as he points out on a new THR podcast, the opposite was true and he started scoring great movie role, something he partially credits to coming out helping improve his acting skills, aiding his versatility..

“It all happened after coming out,” he says. “I had no idea this silly thing was a weight on my shoulders.”

“That’s my message to anyone in this town who thinks ‘I’ve got to stay in the closet to be successful in films’. I didn’t.”

He also has a message for the current crop of actors worried about coming out, saying, “Do you want to be a famous movie star who has love scenes with ladies and in private be an unhappy gay? There’s no choice. Forget the career, dear. Go and do something else … A closet’s a really nasty place to live, you know? It’s dirty, it’s dusty, it’s full of skeletons. You don’t want it. Open that door — fling it wide and be yourself.”

The quick look at his IMDB [age shows that he really did see an explosion in his screen credits after coming out, and he has since scored two Oscar nominations and become one of the most beloved septuagenarians on the planet, thanks to the likes of X-Men and Lord Of The Rings – all while being out, proud and never afraid to talk about his sexuality.

Peyton Reed Returning To Direct Ant-Man And The Wasp

October 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

peyton-reedMarvel hasn’t had a real failure yet despite making films from properties many people couldn’t work on screen. That’s certainly true of Ant-Man, especially after director Edgar Wright left it behind, as many thought he was the only one who could turn it into something worthwhile.

However Peyton Reed took over and turned it into a $450 million grossing hit. As a result Marvel wants him back and THR reports he’s in talks to return to helm the planned sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are both set to return for the film, and it’s expected many of the other actors from the first movie will be back too.

There’s no script yet, with Marvel planning to get going on that once Peyton Reed has signed on the dotted line, so that he can supervise it. It’s due out July 2018.

Laverne Cox To Take On Frank-N-Furter In Fox’s TV Remake Of Rocky Horror Picture Show

October 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

laverne-cox-oitnbThe Rocky Horror Picture Show is getting a remake, this time as a TV event made for the Fox Network which is set to be directed by High School Musical’s Kenny Ortega. Now the production has found the person for the iconic role of Frank-N-Furter – the wonderful Laverne Cox.

While the role of the ‘sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania’ is traditionally played by a man, this time around it’s getting a bit of a twist with a transgender woman taking the part.

Due to be screened in 2016, the TV production will see Cox as the owner of a peculiar castle full of eccentric characters. The strait-laced Brad & Janet accidentally end up in their midst, and discover that Frank-N-Furter has been building himself a man in his laboratory. It also unleashes the sexual desires that Brad & Janet have been busily suppressing. The cult stage and screen phenomenon pays homage to b-movie sci and horror of the 50s, dosed wih liberal sprinklings of pansexual openness, which has helped ensure it’s remained popular for 40 years.

Unlike NBC’s recent live TV versions of The Sound Of Music and Peter Pan, Rocky will be shot in advance and screened during the autumn of 2016.

Tangerine UK Trailer – The trans-themed indie hit is coming to Britain

October 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tangerine-QuadTangerine got huge amount of praise when it debuted at Sundance, then went on to win numerous awards at film festivals around the world, and recently screened at the London FIlm Festival. Not bad for a trangender-themed movie that was shot in iPhones.

Now it’s coming to the UK, with a November 13th cinema release planned, and to help promote that a new trailer has been released, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It’s Christmas Eve in Tinseltown and Sin-Dee (newcomer Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) is back on the block. Upon hearing that her pimp boyfriend (James Ransone, STARLET, “Generation Kill”) hasn’t been faithful during the 28 days she was locked up, the working girl and her best friend, Alexandra (newcomer Mya Taylor), embark on a mission to get to the bottom of the scandalous rumor. Their rip-roaring odyssey leads them through various subcultures of Los Angeles, including an Armenian family dealing with their own repercussions of infidelity.

‘Director Sean Baker’s prior films (STARLET, PRINCE OF BROADWAY) brought rich texture and intimate detail to worlds seldom seen on film. TANGERINE follows suit, bursting off the screen with energy and style. A decidedly modern Christmas tale told on the streets of L.A., TANGERINE defies expectation at every turn.’ [Read more…]

Keegan Allen, James Franco & Garrett Clayton Strip Down On The Set Of King Cobra

October 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-franco-keegan-allen-king-cobra-slideIt’s only a couple of days since we discovered the movie King Cobra existed, and it seems producer/star James Franco, along with actors Keegan Allen and Garrett Clayton, are keen we get get to see the set, and that as it’s set in the world of gay porn, it’s gonna feature a bit of skin.

Allen posted a pic of him and Franco, where he’s just in his undies and Franco in shirtless, while Clayton (who’s playing Brent Corrigan) posted an image where he’s in some very brief boxer briefs.

The film is about how porn actors Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes savagely killed porn producer and head of Cobra Video, Bryan Kocis (to be played by Christian Slater). They thought by doing so they’d be able to make it big behind-the-scenes of the porn world, and lure Brent Corrigan to work for them in order to make a massively successful movie.

Take a look at the hot pics below.

And yes, James Franco has once more found a way to be around a lot of naked men and to head into a gay-themed world. It should keep him happy for a while.
