A few weeks ago it was announced that a movie version of the 1980s Hasbro toy line and cartoon series Jem And The Holograms is on the fast track. G.I. Joe Retaliation director Jon M. Chu will direct the movie, with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions (Insidious, The Purge) and musical mogul Scooter Braun producing.
Things are moving fast as now the main cast is set, with THR reporting that Aubrey Peeples will be Jem, Stefanie Scott will be her little sister Kimber, while Hayley Kiyoko and Aurora Perrineau with be band members Aja and Shane. The first official pic of them is above.
Aubrey Peeples had a starring role in Sharknado and also appears in TV’s Nashville. Stefanie Scott could be heard in Wreck-It Ralph and also appeared in the romantic comedy No Strings Attached. Hayley Kiyoko appeared in the Disney original movie Lemonade Mouth while relative newcomer Aurora Perrineau had a bit part on the Pretty Little Liars.
Ryan Landels wrote the script, which ‘centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt — one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.’
