The idea of remaking The Crow has had a trouble history, with the likes of Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy and Channing Tatum attached to star at various time, and various directors also coming and going, before F. Javier Gutierrez signed up to make the movie.
Now a new star is being lined up for the lead role, with TheWrap reporting that Tom Hiddleston is in early talks to play Eric Draven. The Crow adaptation is planned as a gritty reboot of the iconic comic book character, who returns from the grave as The Crow on a mission to avenge his wife’s murder, so that his soul can finally rest.
It seems Hiddleston hasn’t formally agreed to anything yet, so it may not come together, but he might be a good choice for the role, as long as he can cut the clipped English accent and deliver something a little grittier and more decidedly American.
Hiddleston will be seen in later this year in Thor: The Dark World, Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive, and The Muppets… Again!
