There haven’t been that many movies about F1, partly because it’s not that popular in the US and so the rather myopic people in Hollywood don’t see it as a good box office bet. They’ll make Nascar movies, despite the fact 90% of the world’s population knows nothing about that, but generally ignore the biggest motorsport competition in the world.
However Rush is bucking that trend, with Ron Howard directing and Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl set to star. Now we can get a fresh look at the film with a new trailer.
Set in the 1970s, Hemsworth plays James Hunt with Bruhl as Niki Lauda. Hunt was a dashing playboy with a wild social life, whose exploits off the track filled more column inches than what he did while racing. Lauda meanwhile was a quieter figure, but still an amazing and driven racer. Their rivalry became legendary.
Olivia Wilde, Natalie Dormer and Alexandra Maria Lara also star, with the film set for release in September.
