Ben Affleck is busy wearing his acting shoes at the moment, shooting David Fincher’s Gone Girl and preparing to play Batman in the highly-anticipated follow-up to Man Of Steel. However he has no plans to stop directing and now Deadline reports Warner Bros. has acquired an untitled thriller for Affleck to star in and direct.
Will Staples (World’s Most Wanted) is set to write the script. It’s said to be set in Africa and follows a group of mercenaries hired to kill a ruthless warlord. The project is described as an action movie that also explores themes of philanthropy and the moral ambiguities of foreign assistance in other countries.
Affleck himself had the original idea for the movie, which he pitched then to Will Staples, and Warner signed on to develop. It’s in the early stages at the moment, so don’t expect it anytime soon.
