Now that Jamie Dornan has stepped into the role of Christian Grey, after it was vacated by Charlie Hunnam, Universal and director Sam Taylor-Johnson are rushing to fill out the rest of the Fifty Shades Of Grey cast. They’ve now signed Luke Grimes as Christian’s brother, Elliot, according to Variety.
Dakota Johnson is set to play Anastasia Steele, a young college student who strikes up a steamy, S&M filled affair with 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey. Jennifer Ehle is also attached as Anastasia’s mother, Carla.
Variety notes that there are still key supporting roles to be cast, such as Anastasia’s roommate and Christian’s bodyguard, which have the potential to be break-out roles for any young actor.
Grimes is known for playing Ryan in TV’s Brothers & Sisters, and has also appeared in All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (which was his debut), Taken 2 and Season 6 of True Blood. He’ll have a big summer 2014, because as well as Fifty Shades, he’s also due to appear in Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, which is being polished by Patrick Marber. Production starts next month in Vancouver.
