Most of us don’t want our parents to see us naked (and we don’t really want to see them in the nude either). As a result if there’s any chance our mom or dad might see our naughty bits, we’d do utmost to make sure it didn’t happen.
Jason Segel doesn’t appear to have such qualms, as not only did he did he appear fully naked in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but he didn’t even tell his parents about it before they saw the movie.
According to Segel in Vanity Fair, his mom’s reaction was to burst into tears.
She then thought is might be a good idea to let other family members know so they didn’t have the same shock she did, so she sent out a mass e-mail which read, “I would like to inform you all that Jason has chosen to do full-frontal nudity, however, it is not gratuitous and is essential to the plot.”
To be honest, I don’t think people would have been confused about the plot if they hadn’t seen mini-Segel, but it does have have its place in the movie thematically.
What we want to know is whether he deliberately didn’t tell his parent just to see how they’d react, or whether it just slipped his mind.
