A couple of months before it started shooting, the fifth Terminator movie became known as Terminator: Genesis. Well, it turns out that was almost right, except the title isn’t quite a dictionary perfect, as it’s actually going to be Terminator: Genisys.
The announcement coincides with the end of shooting, which Arnie marks by saying, ‘Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.’
There’s no news on what Genisys itself might be, although the speculation at the moment is that it’s some kind of software related to Skynet, or that it’s the beginning of the programme that ends up creating cyborgs.
Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) directs, with Arnie starring alongside Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee, and JK Simmons.
