Mute Trailer – Duncan Jones heads to a futuristic Berlin with Alexander Skarsgard & Paul Rudd

January 31, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Before he went off to make Warcraft: The Beginning, Duncan Jones was working on Mute. Now we’re finally getting that film, which is heading to Netflix in a few weeks time.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Berlin, the future, but close enough to feel familiar: In this loud, often brutal city, Leo (Alexander Skarsgård) – unable to speak from a childhood accident – searches for his missing girlfriend, the love of his life, his salvation, through dark streets, frenzied plazas, and the full spectrum of the cities shadow-dwellers. As he seeks answers, Leo finds himself mixed up with Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd) and Duck (Justin Theroux), a pair of irreverent US army surgeons on a mission all their own. This soulful sci-fi journey from filmmaker Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft) imagines a world of strange currencies in which echoes of love and humanity are still worth listening to.

‘Mute is directed by Duncan Jones and written by Jones and Michael Robert Johnson. The film is produced by Stuart Fenegan. Charles J.D. Schissel and Trevor Beattie are executive producers. Mute will be released on Netflix, February 23, 2018.’

First Look At Paul Rudd & Alexander Skarsgard In Duncan Jones’ Mute

January 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Before he went off to make the mega-budget Warcraft: The Beginning, Source Code and Moon director Duncan Jones was working on Mute. Now he’s gone back to that film, which will be eschewing largely cinemas, due to a very lucrative deal with Netflix.

Now the first pictures from the film have arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set in the near-future, Leo (Alexander Skarsgård) is a bartender living in the pulsing city of Berlin. Because of a childhood accident, Leo lost the ability to speak and the only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh). When she vanishes without a trace, Leo’s search for her takes him deep into the city’s seedy underbelly. A pair of wisecracking American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux) are the only recurring clue and Leo is forced to take on this teeming underworld in order to find his love.

‘The Netflix original film is directed by Duncan Jones and written by Jones and Michael Robert Johnson. Stuart Fenegan serves as producer and Charles J.D. Schissel and Trevor Beattie serve as executive producers. The film will launch in all territories where Netflix is available in 2017.’

No exact release date has been revealed, but it’ll be out later this year. [Read more…]

A Gay Kiss Between Alexander Skarsgard & Christoph Waltz Was Cut From The Legend Of Tarzan

July 9, 2016 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

legend-of-tarzan3-slideJust a couple of days after it was announced that mega-budget movie Star Trek Beyond was getting more inclusive by show Sulu to be gay, it’s been revealed that The Legend Of Tarzan nearly included a same sex kiss. However, it was cut before it reached cinemas.

The scene featured Waltz’s villainous character, Captain Rom, kissing Tarzan while he the man raised by apes was unconscious. However, director David Yates told The Australian, “We pared it back because it was almost too much. It was this really odd, odd moment when Christoph kisses him.”

Yates adds that, “We loved it at the time, but early test audiences were perplexed by it and in the end it just felt too clever and overworked.”

It is an odd one, as it sounds like it was making literal a rather hackneyed stereotype of the bad guy having hidden desires for the hero, which harks back to the days when making villains a bit gay and closeted was used to underline just how evil they were. However, Yates’ comments also hint that the decision to cut the kiss may have been less a genuinely creative decision and more about fears that with hundreds of millions on the line, they were worried about audience reaction to ‘gay stuff’, which is one of the main things currently holding back LGBT inclusion in major movies. Hopefully though it was that they simply realised it was a bad idea and didn’t work.

Alexander Skarsgard Shares Some Tips For ‘Incredible’ On-Screen Gay Sex

June 29, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

legend-of-tarzan3-slideIf you starred in True Blood, it was pretty much certain you were going to end up in a gay sex scene at some point. As a result the cast and crew got pretty good at it, to the point where the sadly straight Alexander Skarsgard has been sharing some tips on how to look good shagging a guy on-screen.

Talking to Pride Source, he called his two gay sex scenes on the show as ‘incredible’, adding that to do it well, “You just have to embrace it.”

Talking of the first of those scenes, with Theo Alexander, who played Talbot Angelis, “I just said, ’Look at the scene. It’s this nemesis and he comes in and then it gets seductive and you think they’re gonna make love and it gets into that and then suddenly my character stabs him in the back and he explodes. In two minutes, look at this emotional rollercoaster we’re taking the audience on. If we commit to this, it’s going to be an amazing scene and we’re going to be very happy with it forever. If we hold back, that’s when it gets awkward.’”

He adds of True Blood as a whole, “A lot of the storylines are metaphors for the strife people in the LGBT community experience. But it’s done in a very subtle way where people who have never met anyone who’s gay or who have prejudice toward that community would still embrace the show and would still come up (to me) and be super excited about it.”

Skargard also talked about the respect he has for Drag Queens after dressing up to go to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, saying, “Oh my god; walking around in those heels, in that super itchy, hot wig and the fake nails, I felt like Edward Scissorhands. I couldn’t even grab a drink. Once we got to the after party at the gay club, I just kicked my heels off and walked around barefoot because I was just dying. So, I have tremendous respect for all the drag queens out there. I got a little taste of what it takes to look that fabulous.”

New The Legend Of Tarzan Pics Show Off Alexander Skarsgard’s Shirtlessness

June 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

legend-of-tarzan3-slideIn recent years, Zac Efron has been going for the prize of ‘Most Shirtless Movie Star’, but if the new pictures Alexander Skarsgard from The Legend Of Tarzan are any evidence, the True Blood star is trying to take the crown in a single movie. Indeed, it would appear solely from these pictures that he won’t be wearing a shirt at all in the movie.

The pics also suggest they have a very good gym in the jungle, as even swinging through the tress I doubt you’d end up looking like that without a help. Although there also plenty of evidence here that despite how much he works out, Tarzan isn’t great at washing.

Here’s the movie’s synopsis: ‘It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side.  Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz).  But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.’

David Yates (the last four Harry Potter movies) direct. The film is out in the UK on July 1st, but before then enjoy the ridiculous amount of muscles and man-flesh on display below. [Read more…]

The Legend of Tarzan IMAX Trailer – Take a fresh look at (shirtless) Alexander Skarsgard in the jungle

June 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tarzan-main-poster-slideAfter quite a few sequels have bombed this summer, Warner will be hoping the big bet they’ve taken on people being interested in a new Tarzan movie will be lining up next month for The Legend Of Tarzan. They’ll also be hoping it wasn’t a mistake to have director David Yates doing post-production on both this film and Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them at the same time, with the movies hitting cinemas only fourth months apart.

To give us a fresh taste of the film, a three-minute IMAX trailer has arrived, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures comes the action adventure “The Legend of Tarzan,” starring Alexander Skarsgård (HBO’s “True Blood”) as the legendary character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

‘The film also stars Oscar nominee Samuel L. Jackson (“Pulp Fiction,” the “Captain America” films), Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”), Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” “Gladiator”), with Oscar winner Jim Broadbent (“Iris”), and two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Django Unchained”).

‘It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.’

The Legend Of Tarzan will be in cinemas in July. [Read more…]

New The Legend of Tarzan Trailer – Shirtless Alexander Skarsgard heads for the jungle

March 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

legenda-of-tarzan-poster-slideMany believe Warner Bros. have taken a big gamble with The Legend Of Tarzan, not necessarily because of the subject, but because they’ve ended up with director David Yates doing post-production on two of their biggest movies at the same time. He’s working on both this and the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, with the two films due out only four months apart.

However, even with the director doing double duty, the new trailer certainly make Tarzan seem intriguing, as well as showing once again how good Alexander Skarsgard looks with his shirt off.

The Legend of Tarzan Trailer – Him Alexander Skarsgard, her Margot Robbie

December 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tarzan-poster1-slideThe tales of Tarzan certainly looks like it’s gotten dramatic and moody if this first trailer for the big budget live-action take on Edgar Rice Burrough’s character is anything to go by. It also looks like the special effects wizards have got their work cut out for them, as there’s plenty of spectacle to behold (including Alexander Skargard’s abs).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Starring Alexander Skarsgård, Margot Robbie, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, John Hurt and Djimon Hounsou, and directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & Part 2), TARZAN will be released in cinemas on 8th July 2016.

First Look At (A Shirtless & Ripped) Alexander Skargsard & Margot Robbie In Tarzan

December 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tarzan-poster1-slideDavid Yates is a ridiculously busy man. He’s currently shoot the very complex and big budget Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beast & Where To Find Them and simultaneously working on post-production on the the very complex and big budget Tarzan. Warner, which is backing both movies, reckons he can do both, but it’s a lot of work for one man to take on.

However with Tarzan coming out first, we’ve now got our first look at Alexander Skarsgard in the title role, alongside Margot Robbie as Jane. There’s no doubt that Skarsgard spent a lot of time in the gym for this one – indeed he had to go on a four month diet and exercise regimen before filming began.

As well as debuting the pics, USA Today quotes Skarsgard as saying on the movie, “This is about a man who’s holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out.”

However, Yates wants to point it it’s not just about the guy, as Jane is “in no way a passive partner to Tarzan. She’s a really strong, assertive, beautifully knowledgeable, very sexy modern woman who can more than look after herself… In a way, it’s a story of two human beings and how they save each other.”

Take a look at the pics below. Tarzan will be in cinemas next summer.

Paul Rudd & Alexander Skarsgard Up For Duncan Jones’ Mute

November 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

alexander-skarsgardMoon and Source Code director Duncan Jones has been caught up for the last couple of years making Warcraft: The Beginning, but he’s now going back to a movie he was planning before the fantasy film took over – Mute.

Now he’s beginning to fill the cast, as Variety reports that Paul Rudd & Alexander Skarsgard have signed on to star in the sci-fi thriller.

In the movie, ‘Skarsgard will portray a mute bartender in Berlin, 40 years in the future in what has become a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West. His character will be looking for a woman who has disappeared — and when his search takes him deep into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd’s character) seem to be the only recurring clue.’

Jones comments, “I’ve been working towards making ‘Mute’ for 12 years now. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that we’re finally going to shoot this utterly unique film. The fact that I get to make it with Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd makes it all the more exciting!”

Working from a script by Jones and Mike Johnson, the film will start shooting next March.
