The Current War has been doing the round in Hollywood for over five years, but it’s only now that it’s going in front of the camera. To mark the start of production, the first image from the movie has been released via Entertainment Tonight, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the legendary Thomas Edison.
The movie takes place in the late-1880s and revolves around power titans Edison and George Westinghouse’s as the battle over who will control the supply of electricity. Edison championed direct current (DC) for electric power distribution over Westinghouse’s alternating current (AC), which was backed by several European companies and Westinghouse Electric. It became an increasingly vicious public battle as each side tried to destroy confidence in the other.
Michael Shannon play Westinghouse, Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Matthew Macfadyen, Tuppence Middleton, and Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla.

We’ve got one more major superhero to wait for this year, with Marvel introducing a new character in Doctor Strange. The Studio has released a new poster, which you can see above, along with the news that its UK release has been moved up a few days to October 25th.
If this trailer is anything to go by, Marvel is meeting Inception with Doctor Strange, and Benedict Cumberbatch is going to have a slightly odd American accent. It does look pretty cool – if strange – though.
Before it even started filming, some had decided that the fact Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin was directing Star Trek Beyond meant it was going to be a disaster. However, the early buzz is that they should have had a lot more faith, with many suggesting this it the best of the rebooted Star Trek bunch.
The rebooted Star Trek has had plenty of success at the cinema, but one thing it’s been lacking is a five-year mission to seek out strange new worlds. However, now it seems it’s getting one, although as you would expect, as the crew of the USS Enterprise head off to strange new worlds, things don’t go smoothly.
The first trailer for Star Trek Beyond came in for quite a bit of criticism, not least for being very action-heavy and not Star Trek-y enough for some tastes. However, with the second trailer it seems Paramount feels the best approach is to double down on the action and suggestions of lots of epic special-effects. That said, they have added a few more character moments and suggestions this fits into a larger sci-fi universe.
Just yesterday we said that it wouldn’t be long until a trailer for Doctor Strange arrived. Well, we were right as it’s now here and you can take a look at it below. The trailer suggests something a little darker than most Marvel movies, as giving us a taste of the magic it will bring to the universe.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a trailer for Doctor Strange very, very soon (around the time Captain America: Civil War is released makes sense), as a few days after a new picture of Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character debuted, the first official poster has arrived.
Benedict Cumberbatch could either be brilliant or horribly miscast in Doctor Strange, but he certainly looks the part. Just after
