If you said to most people that they’re remaking Heat, they’d think of the 1995 De Niro and Pacino starrer directed by Michael Mann, but the one that’s being planned is a do-over of a 1986 Burt Reynolds with the same name.
Jason Statham’s already signed on, with Deadline reporting that he’s now been joined by Stanley Tucci, Anne Heche, Cedric The Entertainer, Hope Davis and Milo Ventimiglia. Sophia Vergara, Michael Angarano, and Dominik Garcia-Lorido have previously signed up.
The original Heat starred Burt Reynolds as an enforcer who takes on protection jobs to support his burgeoning gambling addiction. The plot thickens when his friend is badly beaten by the mob, and he vows to take on the mafia organisation.
William Goldman, who wrote the novel and the screenplay adaptation for the original thriller, is on board to pen the remake, with Simon West directing.
