New Foxcatcher Trailer – Channing Tatum & Steve Carell team up for the lauded drama

October 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Foxcatcher-poster-slideAfter several teaser the full US trailer for Foxcatcher has arrived, a movie that following its Cannes debut has been tipped by many to get a good showing at next year’s Oscar ceremony, with many saying Steve Carell is a shoe-in for a nom.

The film is based on the true tale of Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo), who was murdered by his paranoid schizophrenic friend Jon Du Pont (Carell) in 1996. Du Pont was an heir to the Du Pont chemical company, who teamed up with Dave’s brother Mark (Channing Tatum) to build a wrestling training facility known as ‘Team Foxcatcher’ on his sprawling Pennsylvania estate. The Schultzes tried to get Du Pont help for years before the murder.

Bennett Miller (Capote) directs from a screenplay by Dan Futterman and E. Max Frye. It’s out in the US on December 20th, with a mid-January UK date set. Trailer via Yahoo. [Read more…]

September 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

elizabeth-banksMagic Mike XXL has now officially started shooting (it actually began filming a few weeks ago but that was just preparatory work), and with that comes an official announcement including info on new cast members and a bit more info on the plot.

New Jupiter Ascending Trailer – Fresh look at Channing Tatum & Mila Kunis in the Wachowski’s epic sci-fi

September 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jupiter-ascending-poster1-slideIt didn’t bode well when the release date for the Wachowskis Jupiter Ascending was moved back from summer 2014 to February 2015, but there’s no doubt the trailers look cool – rather weird, but cool.

Now another one has arrived, giving us our best look yet at the scope of the sci-fi saga – as well as Channing Tatum and his pointy ears.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction epic adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix).

‘Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.’ [Read more…]

Channing Tatum Will Be Struck by Genius In A New Movie

September 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Channing-TatumChanning Tatum may be gearing up to shoot Magic Mike XXL, but he’s also got an eye on future projects as THR reports that he’s attached himself to Struck By Genius at Sony, which he will produce and develop as a vehicle he hopes to star in.

The film is based on Jason Padgett’s memoir, which follows his story as ‘an extroverted partying college dropout [who] was jumped outside a karaoke bar, suffering a traumatic brain injury. During his recovery, he became a new person: a math whiz who saw geometric shapes around him. The book details his sudden savant syndrome, chronicling how he became a hermit, dealt with issues such as PTSD and chronic pain and eventually found some salvation via art.’

It’s certainly an intriguing story and would give Tatum an opportunity to show off his acting chops. Many expect him to get his first Oscar nomination for Foxcatcher early next year, and he may be eying another one for Struck By Genius.

Channing Tatum & The Male Strippers Are Back As Magic Mike XXL Starts Shooting

September 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-new-slide‘It’s ON!’

Those are the words of Steven Soderbergh as he announced the start of shooting on Magic Mike XXL with a tweeted picture of the movie’s clapperboard, which you can see below.

You might be wondering what Soderbergh is doing there, seeing as he’s ‘retired’ from directing and has passed the helming reins for the male stripper sequel to his longtime Assistant Director, Gregory Jacobs. Unusually Steven’s not just there for moral support, but as one of the staff. The cinematographer’s name on the clapperboard, Peter Andrews, is a pseudonym for Soderbergh, and he will also edit the movie.

But while the shoot has started, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. For a start we don’t know much about the plot, other than what Channing Tatum told MTV a few months ago when he said, “This one will be a road trip movie. Without giving a lot away, we don’t wanna make it a really serious, slice-of-life movie. We want to have reality in it, but we don’t want to make it some dark drama. There was some darkness in the last one that I think surprised people and shocked people. This one, we want there to be a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a shit-ton of fun. A shit-ton of just ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie.”

Tatum and Joe Manganiello are both definitely back, and while it’s previously been suggested Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey were also likely to reprise their roles in one way or another, they’ve still not been officially announced.

Channing also co-wrote the movie alongside collaborator Reid Carolin. The film’s due out July 2015. [Read more…]

New Foxcatcher Trailer – Fresh look at Channing Tatum & Steve Carell in the lauded drama

August 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Foxcatcher-poster-slideFoxcatcher was massively lauded when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, with many who saw it saying it was the first Oscar frontrunner and many saying Steve Carell could well win the Best Actor gong.

However are with earlier teaser, there’s more of a focus on man-of-the-moment Channing Tatum in this new trailer.

The film is based on the true tale of Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo), who was murdered by his paranoid schizophrenic friend Jon Du Pont (Carell) in 1996. Du Pont was an heir to the Du Pont chemical company, who teamed up with Dave’s brother Mark (Tatum) to build a wrestling training facility known as ‘Team Foxcatcher’ on his sprawling Pennsylvania estate. More Ice Bucket Challengers: Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Cruise, Zac Efron, Channing Tatum, Jamie Dornan, Eddie Redmayne & Robert Pattinson

August 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

benedict-cumberbatch-ice-bucketA lot of people have been enjoying the Ice Bucket Challenge (although there have inevitably been naysayers who seem determined to see a bad side of everything), and our earlier posts featuring a host of celebs getting wet in the name of charity have certainly been popular.

However we’ve certainly not run out of famous folk getting drenched to raise awareness and hopefully some cash for ALS, although as the brilliant video Benedict Cumberbatch put together below shows, in the UK it’s known as Motor Neurone Disease and so Brits can give a bit of cash to the MND Association to show their support, while in the US it’s the ALSA that should be getting your money.

Along with Cumberbatch’s rather epic multiple soakings, you can take a look below at Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible 5 director Chris McQuarrie getting drenched, Channing Tatum teaming up with wife Jenna, Zac Efron showing he’s up for the challenge alongside Ashley Tisdale, Jamie Dornan and Eddie Redmayne doing it with each other, and Robert Pattinson proving just how wet a t-shirt can get.

And if you need proof of why this is important, take a look at the Ice Bucket Challenge video at the bottom of this post, which comes from a man who was recently diagnosed with the condition.

You also can take a look at our earlier Ice Bucket Challenge posts, featuring Matt Bomer, Chris Pratt, Joe Manganiello, Stephen Amell, Robert Downey Jr., Jesse Metcalfe, Lance Bass, and boyband Emblem3 and another with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Vin Diesel, The Flash’s Grant Gustin and James Franco. New Foxcatcher Teaser Trailer – Channing Tatum turns wrestler opposite Steve Carell & Mark Ruffalo

July 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Foxcatcher-poster-slideWhen we posted a new poster for Foxcatcher a couple of days ago we noted that the focus seemed to have shifted from Steve Carell – who was the headliner when the film was first announced – to man of the moment Channing Tatum.

That’s just of true of this new teaser trailer, which pretty much suggest it’s all about Channing.

While Carell may be annoyed at being sidelined, he can console himself that following the ecstatic reception the movie received at Cannes, many were already prepared to hand him the Best Actor Oscar, and he remains the current frontrunner.

Channing Tatum Looks Moody In The First Foxcatcher Poster

June 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Foxcatcher-posterFoxcatcher is already seen by many as the frontrunner for the Best Picture Oscar – although there’s a long way to go and a lot of movies to be released before it gets any prizes. However it undoubtedly got a great response when it premiered at Cannes.

We’ve had a teaser trailer and some pics – both of which have had people commenting on Steve Carell’s fake nose – and now comes the first UK poster, which arrives via The Guardian.

It just goes to show how quickly things change in Hollywood, as when the film was announced, it was Carell who was the headline star with Tatum as solid support. However now it’s Channing who’s front and centre in the first poster, showing just what a box office draw he’s seen as.

The film is based on the true tale of Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo), who was murdered by his paranoid schizophrenic friend Jon Du Pont (Carell) in 1996. Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes & Tilda Swinton Will Hail, Caesar! Alongside George Clooney

June 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Channing-TatumThe Coen Brothers are going for star power with their upcoming Hail Caesar!, as they already George Clooney and Josh Brolin attached, and now THR reports they’re set to be joined by Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton.

The film is about Eddie Mannix, a 1950s fixer who works for major Hollywood studios. His job is to try and keep the movie stars in line and also cover up their indiscretions.

Tatum will be ‘a Gene Kelly-type star while Fiennes would play Laurence Lorenz, a studio director, and Swinton will portray a powerful Hollywood gossip columnist’ It’s still now 100% who George Clooney and Josh Brolin are portraying at this time, although it’s believed Clooney will be Mannix.

Many of the Coens’ earlier movies harked back to Hollywood’s Golden Age and this would appear to be a return to their love of Tinsel Town in the 40s and 50s. It’s also suggested there are plenty more colourful characters in the script the Coens can find some great actors to play.
