Bond 24 Is Spectre & It’s Even Got A Poster (As Well As Andrew Scott & Ben Whishaw Starring)

December 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

spectre-posterIt’s official, Bond 24 has been announced with a major event in London and it will be called Spectre. Of course that’s the name of the evil organisation headed by Blofeld in early Bond movies (It stands for (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion), and the name of the film signals its return.

Both Blofeld and SPECTRE disappeared from Bond after a protracted legal battle decided Thunderball screenplay co-creator Kevin McClory owned them. However a few years ago Eon Productions purchased the rights and brought them back into the official Bond fold. Every film since Casino Royale has had rumours of a SPECTRE appearance, but it’s only now it will actually happen.

The announcement also confirms that alongside returnees Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear, newbies Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott will star. Although there’s no confirmation, the presumption is that Waltz will be Blofeld.

Here’s the official press release (and take a look at some pics from the launch event below): ‘007 Soundstage, Pinewood Studios, London. James Bond Producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today released the title of the 24th James Bond adventure, SPECTRE. The film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is directed by Sam Mendes and stars Daniel Craig, who returns for his fourth film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007. SPECTRE begins principal photography on Monday, December 8, and is set for global release on November 6, 2015.

‘Along with Daniel Craig, Mendes presented the returning cast, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear as well as introducing Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott. Mendes also revealed Bond’s sleek new Aston Martin, the DB10, created exclusively for SPECTRE.

‘A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

‘The 007 production will be based at Pinewood Studios, and on location in London, Mexico City, Rome and Tangier and Erfoud, in Morocco. Bond will return to the snow once again, this time in Sölden, along with other Austrian locations, Obertilliach, and Lake Altaussee.

‘Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, “We’re excited to announce Daniel’s fourth installment in the series and thrilled that Sam has taken on the challenge of following on the success of SKYFALL with SPECTRE.”.

‘Written by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, Director of Photography is Hoyte van Hoytema and Editor is Lee Smith. Production Designer, Dennis Gassner returns along with Costume Designer, Jany Temime and Composer, Thomas Newman. Action Specialist, Alexander Witt is the 2nd Unit Director. Stunt Coordinator is Gary Powell, SFX Supervisor is Chris Corbould, and Visual Effects Supervisor is Steve Begg.

‘Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond film, was a worldwide box office phenomenon, opening #1 in 70 territories around the world, taking over $1.1 billion worldwide and setting a new all-time box office record in the UK by becoming the first film to take over £100 million.

‘The launch of SPECTRE was streamed live on 007.com and Facebook.com/JamesBond007, and the video is now available on demand at both sites.’

Take a look at some pics from the launch below. [Read more…]

New Guardians Of The Galaxy Poster, Plus A Tease Of The Upcoming Trailer

May 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

guardians-of-the-galaxy-poster2Marvel is going Guardians Of The Galaxy crazy with a new poster and a tease of the big new trailer that’s due to be released on Monday. And you can see it all right here.

The poster is certainly pretty cool, and the trailer tease suggests we might be getting a pretty good look at the movie on Monday.

Also released are some new characters descriptions:

PETER QUILL (Chris Pratt):
Peter Quill is an interstellar adventurer who was abducted from Earth at a young age. After recovering an ancient artifact, Quill must rally an unlikely team of cosmic misfits to prevent a powerful villain from destroying the galaxy.

GAMORA (Zoe Saldana):
Gamora is an orphan from an alien world who was raised by the mysterious Thanos to become the perfect weapon. As Thanos’ personal assassin, Gamora has earned a reputation as a formidable warrior. Gamora now seeks redemption for her past crimes.

DRAX (Dave Bautista):
A physical brute, Drax has a personal vendetta against Ronan, who killed his family. Now fueled by pure rage, Drax will stop at nothing to take his revenge on the most dangerous being in the galaxy.

GROOT (Vin Diesel):
Groot descends from a race of walking flora and resembles a sentient tree. Despite his strange appearance and limited communication skills, Groot proves to be a valuable ally and a loyal friend-not only to his fellow bounty hunter Rocket but to the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

ROCKET (Bradley Cooper):
Rocket is a bounty hunter and mercenary whose mastery of weapons and battle tactics make him a formidable warrior, despite being a genetically altered, cybernetically enhanced, talking raccoon. The result of traumatic biological experimentation, Rocket is a genuine gun-toting badass and mechanical genius who has a huge chip on his shoulder.

RONAN (Lee Pace):
A Kree radical, Ronan continues to fight an ancient war between his people and the Xandarians. Ronan has struck a bargain with the Machiavellian Thanos – retrieve a mysterious artifact, and in exchange Xandar will finally be eradicated. Ronan leads his army to hunt down Peter Quill and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy when they come between him and his genocidal goal.

YONDU (Michael Rooker):
Blue-skinned Yondu is an interstellar bandit who has a less-than-perfect paternal relationship with Peter Quill. As leader of the outlaws known as Ravagers, Yondu and his cohorts pillage their way through the galaxy, taking whatever they want for solely their own benefit.

NEBULA (Karen Gillan): A blue-skinned deadly assassin, Nebula is a loyal lieutenant in Ronan and Thanos’ employ. Her advanced skill set and cybernetic enhancements make her a valuable asset but her resentment of Thanos’ adoptive daughter Gamora may prove to be her Achilles heel.

KORATH (Djimon Hounsou):
Korath, a powerful ally of the villainous Ronan, is a feared intergalactic hunter. Korath is a pursuer who is dedicated to the kill and focuses only on one thing-his target.

RHOMANN DEY (John C. Reilly):
Rhomann Dey is a Corpsman in the Nova Corps, the planet Xandar’s military force. Dey is a loyal and trusted officer but his by-the-book attitude takes a detour when he develops an unlikely rapport with Peter Quill.

NOVA PRIME (Glenn Close):
Nova Prime Irani Rael is in charge of Nova Corps operations throughout the galaxy. From her base of operations on Xandar, the principled and efficient Nova Prime leads her forces with confidence. She defines her mission above all to protect the citizens of Xandar and keep peace.

THE COLLECTOR (Benicio Del Toro):

Guardians of the Galaxy Featurette – Behind-the-scenes with Chris Pratt and co. on the Marvel adventure

April 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Marvel has had a huge amount of success building its cinematic universe, but it’s taking a slightly bigger risk with Guardians Of The Galaxy, as few non-comic fans have heard of it. And as it’s not a directly tied into the other films, they’ve not been able to set it up in the likes of Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Therefore they’ve got a bigger job ensuring audiences are excited for the outer space movie, and one way they’ve tried to do that is including a short behind-the-scenes featurette in a recent episode of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the US.

Now that featurette has shown up online so everyone can see it.

Here’s the movie’s synopsis: ‘From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. Guardians Of The Galaxy Poster, Plus Introductions To Chris Pratt’s Character & More

February 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

guardians-of-the-galaxy-poster1
After the release of the trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy, now we get a poster along with a quartet of featurettes introducing us to the movie’s main characters – Vin Diesel’s Groot, Dave Bautista’s Drax, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, and Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord.

It’s a smart idea as with few people outside comic fans known the Guardians, giving an early introduction to what to many may seem bizarre characters should help sort out any qualms. You can take a look at the character featurettes below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. First Guardians Of The Galaxy Trailer – The Marvel movie is looking pretty cool & so is Chris Pratt

February 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Guardians Of The Galaxy was first announced, a few people were left scratching their heads. Most who weren’t comic fans had never heard of it, and when they found out it was set in space but featured a living tree and a talking raccoon, many were ready the pass it off as a major mistake on Marvel’s part. However now the first trailer is here and it’s looking really cool and as if it could be a lot of fun.

‘From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel has obviously learned a lot from their previous films, and seems to have smartly gone for an outer space look that’s grimy enough to be believable, while having plenty of humour to help keep the whole moving along. No we can’t wait to see the whole thing!

Take a look at the trailer above and some images from it below… [Read more…]

Chris Pratt & More In New Guardians Of The Galaxy Pics, Ahead Of The Imminent Trailer

February 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-pic2
Guardians Of The Galaxy is a big movie and as it’s based on a property few people outside comic fans know, it’s probably gonna need a lot of promotion. That’s started to kick into gear with the release of three new images from the Marvel movie, via USA Today, ahead a trailer that’s promised late Tuesday night US time.

It certainly looks pretty cool, although rather different to what we’ve seen from Marvel so (and certainly with a lot more CG characters). It also gives us a decent view of Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Peter Quill a.k.a. Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista).

The USA Today article tells us a bit about the movie, saying ‘[The Guardians’] stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill’s orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy.’

The movie’s due out in August.
